I forgot a strikers only job is to score. Never mind the chances he creates and spaces he opens up for others.
He's getting booked every time he plays, just another reason along with the fact he's impotent with his feet
Anyway we shouldn't be bickering about the players ffs - playing well as a team here, same again second half
There is more to being a striker than scoring. Especially in a Rodgers team. To suggest he is bad because he hasnt scored or come close to scoring before half time is just silly. Suarez has missed some rediculous chances in the early parts of the game and gone on to win the match. Borini does a lot for the team.
Agreed. About time too. Hope to see this same team (Maybe Sterling in for Gerrard) for the next game, no one really deserves dropping from the 1st half/
Really positive game - I thought our attack would be sh*t but it's been decent (excluding Borini and Gerrard). Coutinho, Lucas and Markovic have been brilliant.
the borini bashing is unnecessary. he's done ok and i nthe longer term you will be right as we will sell him but don't say he'll be sent off or he's useless... thats simply untrue. He MIGHT be like anyone on a yellow. Far more likely he'll be off on 70mins for balotelli. Gerrard is doing ok, interesting efforts he's had. For me: 1. Player positions.... Can... RCB is very suited to him. he doesn't look out of position. Skertl.... Sahko... moreno... lucas, henderson... All in their best slots. Coutinho too. Maybe even gerrard.... Markovic is the only guy you'd say is out of position annd it shows in performances 2. fears... I feared we'd see gerrad/lucas CMS and henderson RWB this morning seeing team. Borini too... so far those fears were unfounded and team selection is better 3. the wind... i am thinking lfc need to be on thier game and clear well for second half and crub and 10 min rally from sunderland with this big wind. All in all its not too bad but lacks quality in the end of moves.
Borini has been awful, and that's not because he hasn't scored. His touch is absolute garbage. I'm not fussed about the sitter he missed because I rather he make those runs and get those chances to miss, than not have them at all (which is what happened when we played with Lambert).
I don't agree with the viewpoint that strikers should score goals...why does it matter as long as the team is scoring? Borini, right now, is providing space, movement, pressing the defenders and linking up the play with the midfielders and it's enabling Gerrard, Coutinho and Markovic to get forward and be useful. I wouldn't take him unless he's looking like getting another yellow.
Early in Rodgers first season people on here regularly said: 'Suarez is a great player but he is not a natural goal scorer'. He was missing ridiculous chances. Of course he eventually got going (mega style), but for the first 5/6 games he could barely hit a bus from a foot away. Borini has not had a run of games in over 6 months. If Suarez was entitled to be rusty then, Borini can be rusty now. Borini scored 10 goals last season, but barely played for the first third and spent many goals at LWM.
If Suarez played 6% of the games he played he would still have banked a positive amount of goals or scored 6% of the goals he scored, whatever. Quality shows. Look at Markovic now. He looks a player. Borini has never looked a player in three years at the club.
But Suarez had a record of scoring goals at every club he's been at, including international. You could argue that the first few months at LFC were a blip.
Read my previous comment about Suarez, Borini and a run of games. Suarez was awful early on. Borini was pretty decent on loan last season once he got up and running. Your ignoring a lot of evidence.
That's it. If he doesn't score then he should be part of the goals that other players score but his touch is so bad he ****s up moves for us. Alright he runs around which makes him a better option than Lambert or Balotelli.
I may take him for Mario but certainly not for Lambert. Bringing Lambert on when protecting a lead is the worst thing we could do.
