Both your and Supcon's comment is fatuous.

Isn't NP's record down to circumstance and current financial climate ?

No more than the very inexperienced Dean Holden's was, in fact, NP has had more chance and money to sign players than DH did, which was the context to my comment, I'm surprised that NP with all his experience and largely the same players has a worse record than DH at this stage. I never made it about the manager before DH, somebody else did that, not me! I fully agree you can't compare the start of the 19-20 season due to the financial differences that exist in a pre and post COVID world, and I didn't. Although I would highlight that it shows a lot of these players at the club now have been capable of getting us in a higher position than we are today, that is down to coaching and management, not financial matters. In that respect, I do think we have regressed.

The fact is we're not going to go down, but nor are we going to trouble the play off places. We're mid-table and boring

With every passing game, win, lose or draw Nige will know who his best players are and all he can do is hope to move people along and bring better players in once the season finishes, If he's given any money of course which is debateable.

My comment was an observation on DH v NP record last season vs this season, nothing else. No intention to get a bite, and not sure why I'm getting lumped into another LJ debate here?

It is difficult to compare seasons, basically there because there are 6 different teams at KICK OFF.
But every team has continuity, they dont all start with a new squad of players. When I put up facts it is what the situation was at a certain time, not making any presumptions as to who is better or worse I think we started this season with 7 or so players available in 2019/20 in the squad and a dozen available in 2020/21.
both DH & NP had warm ups to the start of a whole season. DH had benefit of continuity whilst NP had benefit of "stating he was was very happy with squad, had cleared out the chaff" and brought in some tried and trusted to bolster it.
EVERYONE HAS OPINIONS.... myself I base stuff on reality of what happens ... I personally thought the subbing at end of PNE cost us the points. We have 2 defensively orientated coach's and need an attacking minded coach. Suddenly flooding defence with a couple more defence minded players causes a conflict. ......... when you clear the ball it is 9 times out of 10 to a defender of the opposite team in your half!.
we have a good team, not brilliant, but above average. When you take out the last "minute" goals that cost us we are about 8th or 9 on points! [ not as simple as just saying add on x points to 34 you have to take off from teams that gained them etc etc etc ] but just 1 or 2 wins from being in top 6 ! ... not 5 or 6!

Mate I rarely delete comments unless they are a deliberate provocation or breach of the rules, your original comment I am sure has been read by all, we know where you stand and respect you for it.

The reason I am on this site is because I enjoy the banter between various posters and as long as it stays civil I will stay. Whether or not I agree with some of the comments is irrelevant because that is our purpose and we have to trust our moderators to the job we expect- and they do. Keep it coming guys and let's hope we will all come out of this 2 year old fog with our sanity in tact and maybe find that we are supporting a club that is going places. Yeah!

Keep on trucking but not in Canada eh. <doh>
