What was unthinkable a few years ago happens tomorrow...although given the organisation he was corrupted by,it should'nt be a surprise. One time 2000 gns antepost favourite, after slamming a subsequent G1 winner by 3.5Lwhen trained by Dermot Weld, debuts over timber tmz for John Ferguson, the bloodstock advisor to the desert rats.He ends up training most of what he bought for Sheikh Mo and his enormous half bred litter by his multiple wives...what an expert, what a shame, what a horse he could have been. Dubai Prince goes in the last at Leicester tmz.
Awful news re Sanctuaire who was killed in a schooling fall after racing at P'town. Sold for £170,000 and never had a chance to realise any of that sum or the expectation behind it.
Terrible news regarding Sanctuaire, what a shame for connections. He was one of those quirky horses and you never quite knew what was going to happen when he raced. The greatest compliment I can pay to him is that, after his win in the Celebration Chase at Sandown last April, I (and many others) thought he might give the mighty Sprinter Sacre a race. The Tingle Creek demolition job quickly dispelled such fanciful notions, but the display he put up at Sandown to win the Celebration Chase, slamming good horse like Somersby, Dan Breen, French Opera and Wishfull Thinking by half the Sandown home straight, will live long in the memory. RIP Sanctuaire.
It really is Nass. It looked like a shrewd purchase and trainer assignation given the decline of SE,the opportunity offered by the Irish 2m pattern race calendar and the lack of competition therein.
Oddy, i know the pp meeting often throws up duds but i was very impressed by DODGING BULLETS and THE LIQUUDATOR today. I did wonder if Raya Star would do him for flat speed if they both got round but none of it. He really looked impressive today and jumped very slickly without being flashy.
He loved that hill as well stick, really lengthened nicely away. I haven't watched Champagne Fever yet but I'd have to say Taquin De Seuil is the best Arkle prospect I've seen so far - I know he gets further but the way he stuck on past Oscar Whisky up the hill on Friday was very impressive. He may well end up in the Jewson though ................... ah the delights of trying to fathom which novice will go where at the festival.
The Liquidator did it well stick, but Sea Lord was never going to be a supreme horse. However, The Liquidator did it well today and clearly is a very useful animal, be interesting to see where he goes next
Earlier on the same card Alan King's Mystery Drama goes in the opening contest - one of the easiest winners you'll ever see last time out on the all-weather and assuming she's schooled well she should piss this
Rip Sanctuaire You lot seem to be forgetting the Mullins horses at Punchy today. I love Faugheen. He looked to have unbelievable cruising speed. Jumped slickly enough although his style seems to lend itself to chasing. What a prospect. Could run and win in either the Albert Bartlett or Neptune. His other brilliant young prospect today is the Neptune second (to Simonsig no less) Felix Yonger. He brushed Defy Logic, an average mid 130-140 horse, to one side. Looked the winner from the first pace and will potentially improve for an extended trip. Champagne Fever ran on Saturday as well and beat a field of fair yard sticks. Arkle winner for me.
easy money on the ruby 5 timer thanks kids sanctuaire takes the edge off it though as always stay frosty xx
Horrible news about Sanctuaire R.I.P The first 1.5m versus Sprinter Sacre was quite spectacular and even the great horse looked a little slow in behind for a few strides. Could have been anything.
