New Show 1.50 Newmarket. 16/1. Each way play. Not a huge fan of Spencer's, but he does seem to put his back into it when riding for Michael Bell.
A couple of arrows for me today. 2.55 New Flavius Titus 3.35 New Skitter Scatter Also football coupon on, I’ve got a feeling Derby will miss out on the play offs with Boro getting the final slot. Have a good Sunday fellas.
The Pretty Polly does not look a strong race this season. A three times raced short-head maiden winner is 6/4 favourite and I could not back at those odds in those circumstances. Maqsad represents William Haggas and she was gritty last time in holding off a Gosden runner narrowly, with the pair clear. It was virtually a match between the two though, based on the betting and when a horse is a shortish favourite, you expect a clear advantage on performance. On official ratings Maqsad is ranked 92 and that leaves her behind John Gosden's Shambolic, who is rated 100 and Mark Johnston's I'll Have Another who sits on 97. Shambolic won her first two races last season but they were modest affairs and they didn't work out at all well. Her rating is based on her 4th in the Group 1 fillies mile which wasn't the strongest renewal I can recall. She wound the season up in a 10F race at Saint-Cloud, when well down the field behind winner Wonderment. That is a race that has worked out as 0/8, 8 unplaced, since. I can't back Shambolic at about 3/1. I'll Have Another ran in the Fielden Stakes on her seasonal return and probably her best piece of form was 2nd to Norway in the Zetland Stakes last year. Mark Johnston seems like Lucky Bingo to me in regards to whether they will run well or not and his filly folded like a concertina in the Fielden, trailing in last, beaten 22 lengths. I just couldn't back her, even at 12/1, although she will probably run better today. In the circumstances I went with Clematis. Charlie Hills is by no means my favourite trainer but his First Defence filly won her only start in taking style at Kempton over a mile. She picked up nicely that day and although she needs a good step up, it is possible she could improve a fair bit in a race where none of the field are actually proven Listed class yet. Clematis has to get further than the mile this time but she ran on well last time, pulling three lengths clear of her field. At odds of 7/1 the chance was taken on Clematis finding the improvement on turf and over another 2 furlongs. 4.45 Newmarket Clematis 7/1 Good luck today.
Good morning chaps and chapettes A very rare Sunday at home for me, and what a day I am looking forward to. The start of the World Snooker Championship final and 1000 Guineas day. And it is the 1000 that I am most excited about - being that I am sitting on a 50-1 voucher about Qabala She has to win, but obviously I expect her to! I haven't even looked at the rest of the cards yet - and may not even do so but good luck all
Hi Chasps, My e/w for the Guineas is Varian's extra-string Mot Juste; easy to back this morning at 25's and just noticed now into 16's. Wouldn't normally add a comment, but somehow thought, "what's the... ..." To encompass both feeling & recognition? If you look & feel it May be worth backing, I must add that now carries the additional weight of my coppers....
We ought to change our nickname to "the confidence restorers" - any team we play who hasn't won for x months (wasn't your last away win in December or something like that?) we go and lose to. Uncanny.
Groovy baby - loving this sunday racing, must do it more often Re: Owls and QPR - I'd settle for playing anyone every week at the moment! I'm told they are considering digging up Nat Lofthouse, on the basis that he wouldn't need wages!
We have an owner who wants to put the club into administration and a once-banned bloke with a record of dodgy dealing wanting to buy, and (we assume) make a fast buck asset stripping. Sad indeed Oddy.
afternoon, fellas! well,i am looking very much forward to the guineas today. heres my verdict: well, quabala falls very much into the "could be anything" category, and she may well be just that, but it worries me,that shes got very less experience, and that might be crucial today.so,i decided to turn a battle-hardened filly like FAIRYLAND,who showed some courage to win the lowther and the cheveley park stakes last season.so,my only slight worry is the low draw and the longer trip,,but if frankie gets it right there, she should be bang there at the business end..definite e w value..
