Great shout Nass… only just held on though, it looked like it was going to win by 6 or 7 lengths with 100 yards to go.
Got to keep a decent handicap mark. Horse is a tricky customer so I’m glad it hung on in the end. Inspired going wide, it’ll be interesting to see if that is a route used later.
In the 1.30 at Carlisle the 4YO son of Flemensfirth, The Gooner, makes his debut. Owners Gay and Paul Smith paid €280,000 for him and my question would be this: If you paid €280K for a point-winning gelding, why would you send it to Jackdaws Castle?
Joseph has got a good one there in Comfort Zone. Given a lovely ride by JJ Slevin (who really impresses me as a jockey) and quickened up really well when asked to approaching the final hurdle. Whoosh and away he went. Of course silly quotes for the Triumph Hurdle coming out (Hills go 8/1 ) but that isn't the horse's fault.
Everything was backed in that race and Grangeclare West drifted like a barge and went and won at a canter. Seriously impressive.
Doesn't look like a horse that will relish his fences. Back to hurdles before a few attempts at long distance flat races and hopefully he gets out of the game in one piece.
Unbelievable run from Dawn Rising. Front two punched each others lights out and he came from way back to mow American Mike down. How impressive was that
Looked threatening on the turn in Pilgrim but ultimately didn't have the staying power. Decent shout each way for you either way, well done. The Big Dog was a pretty obvious contender on the face of it, landed a few nice big pots now he has.
