Well done on Noble Mission lads, the market got it spot on, easy lead in ground he handles better than most. He does look a different horse this year but im not getting carried away, id be surprised if he won another Group 1 but he deserved that.
Loving my 2/1 Treve for Prince of Wales now, Cirrus franks the form nicely and Magician who was supposed to be the main danger beaten. Im sure Magician will be better on better ground but hes not in the filly's league. Still 7/4 with crooks if your fast
Afternoon lads surely Vote Often would be the most topical winner of the Irish 1000 GNS (in the absence of a horse called Overrated Bale)?
Marvellous lol ffs how do these horses constantly manage to have no decent form yet win and beat proven horses with great form everytime, races really are anyones nowadays
daughter of Youresothrilling, good filly for Obrien a few years ago, was also difficult to train I think, wouldnt have thought she would get 1m4 Beef but you never know with these Galileos.
She was only getting going in that last furlong though and with the ground as soft as it is she reeks middle distance to me. I suppose it could have been a poor race though, as plenty would have been inconvenienced by the ground. O'Brien seems to agree with me based on that interview. Oaks it is by sound of it, though of course he'll have to see the 'lads' first. Listen
Worth pointing out that the Oaks jolly's form took a right hammering on Thursday too. Looks well shaky now, I couldn't have her on my mind at all. Extremely opposable now
I was surprised she handled the ground that well, mentioned elsewhere she could run a race today if she handled it, but Youresothrilling(sister to Giants Causeway) won the Cherry Hinton as a 2yo so you wouldnt have thought she would be producing Oaks fillies, shes also quite closely related to Hanky Panky who is best at around a mile. Gut feeling is she will be best between 8-10 and might be even better on decent ground.
7.5 point profit I really thought teovio would have the beating of the top weight not a bad return though. hope your all winning fellas
Never heard of D Holmes, never heard of the two horses, and don't like the look of either, but by the crap I've seen today and yesterday, I'm doing a £5 r/fc and £5 win singles on them both
Can only back up Chan's comments on the article by Richard Hughes on watering in yesterday's RP. I think we've had plenty of these discussions on here before but his comments were enlightening. The contrast between Warwick, which waters and which he says he will never ride again, and Bath, which can't water, which he says is a safe course to ride was amazing to hear. Ron, where did you think he got it wrong?
Found an old notebook with a couple of horses I followed and their runs in 1975 Horse 1 Newbury May 16th Good to Soft Sandown May 27th Firm Royal Ascot June 19th Firm Curragh June 28th Good to Firm York August 20th Good to Firm Doncaster Sept 13th Good Horse 2 Newmarket April 16th Soft Chester May 6th Good Haydock May 23rd Firm Haydock June 6th Firm Royal Ascot June 19th Firm York July 12th Good to Soft Sandown Aug 30th Firm 13 races, 7 of them on Firm ground, 2 Good to Firm and the horses in question won 6 of the races they ran in, were 3yos and both had respectable 4yo careers. A horse is (un)lucky to encounter firm ground these days.
1. It's ok to run horses on a "road"? Total bollocks. 2. Jarring is not an injury etc. It is an injury but it probably won't show up in lameness, even though it will be uncomfortable. So to him it's probably OK. However it does cause damage and it can be long lasting especially if repeated. It seems he thinks it's OK if they can run again. Maybe if he owned the horse and took proper veterinary advice he would think again. He's correct in saying that firm ground with a good cushioning of grass is fine. But to say it's OK to jar up a horse ?????????????????? As I said Bustino, if he had stuck to the topic it would have been a very good article.
PS Bustino. The fact that a horse won on firm going does not mean it hasn't done any harm. And going classified as firm doesn't mean the same on all courses. As RH says, firm going with a good covering of grass is fine.
