I don't like the fact he has went out like a light a few times I bet he has a breathing problem - will watch replay again later.
Grüà Gott, Oddy! Many thanks for this clip; as you said 'a beautifully written article' by Jonathan Powell. Any fancies today, haven't had a decko yet?
Not a lot really Swanny - Third Half could be a bit of value in the opener at Kempton - although he's by your mate Haafhd so would probably like more cut (how can Ascot be heavy and Kempton good - they're not that far apart ). In the 2.45 I've had a little e/w punt on Arbeo - he caught my eye when winning a couple of bumpers quite nicely a couple of years ago and did OK over hurdles without setting the world alight. I think fences will be the making of him but ideally he will want further than this and it looks quite a hot contest. Well worth watching the replay with the old note book out. I agree with RV on the Ferguson horse in the listed novice hurdle, although Spirit Of Shankly already has supreme novice quotes of 20/1. I also think Australia Day could be back to his best today - he loves it round Kempton and the ground will suit.
Yes, that is hard to understand. Was my neck of the woods once, and these tracks are certainly not far apart! Will take a look at your selections pronto........... With Haafhd progeny, what makes me really sit up is when one of his is going on the flat at a galloping track, especially Newmarket. Wouldn't say things have worked out all that well this season (?) but I'll keep checking. Haafhd loved Newmarket on the soft! OK, had a look, of your two Oddy would prefer Third Half, so will have a small punt on that one. Don't think he truly stayed 1-1/2 miles on the flat, but did win at 1-1/4 miles at Haydock, I see. Should do OK at the flat and easy Kempton track, and through damsire Unfuwain should appreciate that little bit of cut in the ground?

A person from Sunderland Dex: The name Mackem is often claimed to have been used by "Geordie" shipyard workers in the 19th century on the Tyne, to describe their Wearside counterparts. The Mackems would "make" the ship to be fitted out by the Geordies, hence "mackem and tackem" ("make them and take them"). Geordies, along with other people, consider the term "mackem" as an insult, perhaps owing to the perceived more skilled role of fitting out the ships compared to the more physical role of assembling the hull. However, without any substantiated use of the phrase prior to the 1970s, this may well be a folk etymology.
Oddy. It is also widely thought that it was the Wearside ship workers who set up the great and peerless football club in Bilbao...hence Athletic and not Atlético. Athletic also play in an identical kit to Sunderland.
aha!!!!!!!! **** me you live and learn. Right we've got 21°C today so off out to the park to enjoy it
