Obviously as an English cricket supporter, I want England to win but that has no relevance when it comes to betting. Bookies get rich on mugs backing British teams simply because they are British in any sport. From a betting point of view on Saturday night (when there was no rain on the forecast), this Test was a two horse race. There was no chance of an England win and the two horses are priced at 1/2 Draw and 3/1 Australia. You could have put £200 on the draw and £75 on the Aussies and won £25 whatever happened. I happened to believe that they would finish us off with less than a 200 lead and if a couple of people could get a partnership going with Smith they would knock off the runs. Hindsight is a great thing as Smith was ruled out on Sunday morning with concussion and the rain delaying the start put me on a loser before midday.
Funny then that in the end only England looked like possible winners. You are, with all due respect, talking bollocks.
