Non runners in general on the morning of the day piss me off, but non runners a few hours before a race annoy me even more, surely these dickheads know it won't be running anyway in the morning so why leave it 2 hours before the race for a hefty rule 4? Thought they brought in new rules to combat this **** as well, seems like the last 2 weeks there's been more non runners than ever at the last minute, it's a joke. Give trainers day / week bans like jockeys get
48 hour declarations on the flat these days Chelsea and a lot can happen after you have declared. Add to this the fact that you cannot always trust the going reports issued by the clerks. Most late declarations will be due to ground and they will be late in the day because the trainer either has only just got to the track or because the feedback from jockeys regarding the ground will contradict what the clerk of the course has stated. Most of these will be for the welfare of the horse......I could go on.
