Cracking day at Cheltenham today. It's gonna be a slog, so as my uncle would say " back the cart horses" . One that jumps out is Olofi in the big race. Feather weight 5lb claimed, loves it round here 25/1 , I'm on . Also like drumlee sunset, fox Norton and simply ned. All pretty reliable sorts. Cheers.
The fact that Sprinter Sacre gets 10 lbs from Mr Mole shoes how far this once great has regressed since those 3 demolition jobs at the various festivals in the spring of 2013. I'd love to see him win but I'd be surprised if he did. I suspect the good to soft, soft in places official going description is inaccurate based on what I saw yesterday which won't help him either.
I think you're the only one again Wooly. Flat track. 10lbs. Decent ground. I may have been interested at 3/1. Cheltenham. Horrible ground. Uphill finish. I want 12/1 and even then i don't think i'd bother. But we know how this ended up the other day.
If he's beat today I'd seriously hope Mr Henderson pulls the plug on the career of Sprinter. If he's not winning that getting weight, it'd be a disgrace to persist with him.
I think Mr Mole may well end up winning that race. Remember when Sprinter looked imperious on his return last season and found absolutely nothing? It wouldn't shock me if that happened again this season. One at a frankly daft price that i'm talking myself into having an each way bet on is the Brian Ellison trained Point the Way in the bumper. 50/1. This owner won the race last year with the reasonably decent Definitely Red albeit with Steve Gollings. I doubt this horse is as good but it wouldn't surprise me if the yard had targeted today. Third on debut when unbacked, you could look at it as a pipe opener to gain experience. Then they took it to Hexham where it was punted and won well enough in the end from a strung out field. The second fav was receiving weight that day and couldn't really land any telling blow so i'd say the race, although not strong, stacks up well enough in that the ones that were expected to run well did so. If they have trained this to the minute then there's no reason why the extra experience this one has won't stand him in good stead when the battle is on up that hill. He may stay on past a few knackered horses and nick a place. Decent pay out if he does.
Ah, Channel 4's doing Cheltenham today, great! So will continue to chuck my cents (sense?) down the drain with a bit on Simon Squirrel in the first for Paul Nicholls. 5/1 seems a reasonable bet, hope so.
Watch the starter make a right horlicks of getting 5 of them started at Cheltenham and cause a clash with the 1.05 Punchestown. You can just see it coming
Lovely performance from Sizing John - very fluent at his fences. Continues to progress from race to race.
Can anyone tell me why Impulsive American goes off a mark of 119 here at Fontwell? Well beaten off 95 last time out. I'm confused.
Calipto in the next at Cheltenham, then I'll probably call it a day!. Do hope Sprinter Sacre wins, really do.
