Who else on the planet said he would be Champion 3yo? Midterm was a killer for me, and you and Dex have been making sly digs clearly trying to bait me for the last two days, the Midterm comments coinciding with me being on the daily thread. please log in to view this image Wouldnt have said a word about your 4/11 loser otherwise, but as were on the subject, what you doing backing dog novice chases at Killarney when there is Group 1 racing in the middle of May.
Only an absolute mug would have been even considering MIDTURD as any sort of champion after his form got absolutely ripped to shreds at Chester. He was hard at work to beat a 100 odd rated animal at Sandown for crying out loud. It was ridiculous hype placed him hilariously at the top of the Derby market because of breeding and who trains him. The only reason I commented was because of the daft perch you placed the horse, suggesting quite outlandishly he was 'different class' The only Derby MIDTURD should be contesting is in August on Blackpool pleasure beach. £3 a go. Him and Sandymount Duke drawing the mugs in...
Can't speak for the rest of Ireland but I see the 2/1 second fav was a NR so the price obviously contracted significantly. Even if he had won there was a sizeable r4 deduction in any case.
yip, got carried away, sometimes you are confident about something and it turns out you are wrong how far the Duke?
but in seriousness, Algometer is a decent horse, 110+, and Midterm moved like a good animal and I expected a big step forward like So Mi Dar took from Epsom, as I said after the Dante, I wasnt watching the same horse, the form wasnt worth a lot, but the same goes for all the other Derby trials run, the time was over 2 seconds faster than the Group 3 for older horses on the same card and the 3rd High Grounds clearly couldnt be used as an accurate line at Chester I said once Midterm realizes hes a racehorse the other 3yos will have no chance, everything was wrong about York from the start, im not going to write him off after 1 bad run
Im not talking about the Derby, im talking about as a horse, ill be surprised if he runs in the Derby, looking like they are seriously considering Ulysses which tells a story
And for the record I never put anything up at 4/11, I recommended it as a seriously over priced 5/4 shot who should be odds on, so I was bang on in my assessment as the market proved! Shame he never delivered as an odds on shot but as we know there not machines. Just rematched The Gurkha again there. That was fearsomely impressive. Mightn't have been a great lot in behind but remember that was only his third start and he's totally destroyed them in a Grade 1 with ridiculous ease. He has serious scope to improve and for my money he's a long way clear of the English Guineas winner. I'd have no doubts come the end of season he'll be the 3 year old colt were talking about most. He looks a proper weapon, can't say I've seen a colt looked as good this season. I couldn't have him on my mind for the Derby but at the best price 6/1 currently available in an open (for open read ****e) Derby field I couldn't make a huge case against if people did want to chance him staying.
Im not sure about his scope for improvement, his dam Chintz never trained on and her Queen Nefertiti bolted up on debut as a 2yo, didnt win a race at 3, hes obviously quite precocious with that speed, remains to been seen how he holds up through the season. Even given that he has no chance of staying, I couldnt have a horse called The Gurkha winning the Derby, ill be amazed if he turns up at Epsom. Was visually impressive today but it looks like he was a class above Group 3 horses and better suited to the trip, the fillies race had much more depth to it with proven G1 form all over the place and the time backs that up. Barwod who was beaten 7L by Mekhtaal in the Hocquart today, had previously ran the Guineas 3rd Dicton to a neck and was 1 1/2 behind Zarak 4th and George Patton 5th in the trial. Hes still got a lot to prove for me before id rate him a top miler, id say Galileo Gold has achieved more at this stage and I dont exactly rate him either but these are the cards dealt in this crop.
The horse never saw the racetrack as a 2 year old, he only won his maiden 28 days ago and he's now won a French Guineas on his 3rd start but you can't see how he can improve?!!! Okkkaayyyyy.....
Not saying he cant, just saying I have my doubts about how much improvement he has in him, maturity has nothing to do with how many times you have run or when you started racing, thats why you get 7yo's going from marks in the 70s to the 90s, and 2yo's who can run in the Nunthorpe, only Obrien would be able to tell you, I can only go with the info I have, my eyes and his breeding. He looked to me today pretty much what he is going to be, I could be wrong tho.
I think if he was trained elsewhere or on your long list you'd be singing from a very different sheet. Could be wrong of course!
See thats where you mistake me though, because you are looking through your eyes, I dont have that in me. I couldnt care less who trains them, on the flat anyway, I resent Mullins domination on the jumps but that doesnt mean im going to say Faugheen and Annie Power are bad horses.
You might be right tho, if he was on my list I would probably be keeping quiet about the form, but Id still be saying the fillies are different class and he has no chance of winning the Derby.
u want a £50 bet for charity on number of Group 1s he wins from now till the end of the season? ill take under 2 u take over 2 if he wins 2 we both put up the 50 quid
