Cor bally blinkin' blimey what has happened to the layout of the forum?!? Is it a move to attract the movers and the shakers?!? Is it an attempt to turn Not 606 into the new hip and happening place to be?!? Or has someone simply pressed the wrong button?!? I think we all know the answer to that one don't we regular readers...

Must confess that nothing super impressed me re the past couple of days at Cheltenham but am keen to see what the assessor does re Kyntara (if anything) after his 5th placed finish, at the track, on Friday. Going back to the previous weekend Keltype (who I'd mentioned a few times prior to his debut) was solid rather than spectacular but the old boy did hint, at the fact, that he'll want a trip when he goes onto tackle hurdles and/or fences.

Have to say Gordon Elliott is in tremendous form this season and, whilst he does throw a lot of arrows, he has had 105 winners already. He probably can't compete with Mullins for the Irish trainers championship (due to the number of horse capable of winning Grade 1 prize money in Closutton) but it is good for the GOAT to have some real competition on that side of the Irish sea. Can Skelton and Elliott, between them, stop the Mullins machine in both title races this season?

Yes, to Skelton and no to Elliott. Dodgy / Burly (delete as appropriate) Dan all but over the line on this side of the Irish Sea in my opinion. And those bookie chappies going just 2/7 about him obliging.

The handicapper has left Kyntara alone - the 9YO remains on a perch of 131. That was exactly the same mark that he ran off to finish runner-up in the 2024 Pertemps Final. Kyntara already, incidentally, qualified for the 2026 version of that event.

Although you do have to wonder if the old boy is bit too old for that heat (Kyntara will be a 10YO by the time it is run) - afterall horses 9YO+ are 1/85 in the Pertemps Final since 2012.

I’m not so sure Burly Dan has it in the bag just yet. He’s taken care of the home challenge with ease as he should with considerably more ammo than Fat Paul or Nicky the Needle. However the spectre of Willie the Goat will keep the chunky chap awake at night. Yes he’s miles clear but Mullins out scored him by a million quid at Cheltenham 25 without winning any of the blue riband events. Then you’ve got the GN at Aintree to factor in. Willie made 850k from just that one race last April and I wouldnt be surprised if a similar result occurs next April. Then you’ve got decent prizes for staying races at Ayr and Sandown after that. Willie definitely has the artillery for those type of races and I’m not sure Fiddling Dan does. Still all to play for.
