    Hope the beautifully named Loch Garman can put in a good show and run Battle of Marengo close.

    <cracker>

    Didn't have chance to post the reasoning. In summary it was because it had no run in two hot races last season- twice finishing to great effect without winning, and crucially was drawn 5 here <ok>

    Havanah Gold beaten nk, hd, hd, shd. I'm happy with that, gave me a good run. Got the other one totally wrong though.

    You can get 33/1 with Ladbrokes for WANNBE BETTER e/w in the Irish 1000 Guineas trial at 3.25.

    The filly has been crying out for the extra furlong or two and has had absolutely no chance at 6f. She will stay 10f eventually this season and possibly further, and I think she can make the frame here at very rewarding odds. Take out the front two in the market- neither of whom who strike me as bombproof regardless-and you have a good opportunity of going close.

    Can't turn down that price e/w and at 33s, you don't have to play big.

    Is there a better hurdle jockey than Wayne Hutchinson? Always produces a good ride and sets the horses up nicely over the smaller obstacles

    I strongly fancy his ride in the bumper, the Oscar Rock form has been boosted all season. I would have him as odds on.

    Gone too Far is the horse in question

    Battle of Marengo will not be winning the derby! Looks very one paced to me. Seems remarkably similar to Seville from a couple of years ago

    Have to say Battle of Marengo looked slow again!

    I am beginning to warm to Telescopes chances here to be honest. It is a little bit like Workforces year- the O'Brien string are missing their number 1 (Kingsbarns) and we keep watching their second strings mop up the 'lesser' trials.

    We will have a bit of a picture after the Dante.

    All you can say about Battle of Marengo is that he won - its not saying "Derby winner" to me. He looked like he was stopping the nearer he got to the winning post.

    I suspect we saw the Derby winner last week at Newmarket

    Was waiting on that Fabre filly in the 1000 for a 3 timer with Tableux 7/2 and Style Vendome 9/2, beat me for a right few quid, no excuses though, got done for speed, she will take a bit of beating in the French Oaks I think.
