Nicely done. Looked like Best In the World had him covered by when you've got the best in the business aboard you've always a fighting chance. Too strong in a finish for the O'Brien runner.
Before the Prix Niel in the pre-parade ring Midterm looked very warm but it is about 75 per cent humidity here. Makahiki looked totally relaxed. In the race itself, Midterm tried to steal it but I think he got tired. I wonder if they will let him take his chance in the big one after New Bay ran so poorly yesterday.
I am at Chantilly and the wi-fi keeps dropping out if I move more than three yards - hence the badly late posts. Not sure what to make of the Vermeille as Endless Time made it another typical French race but Left Hand won very cosily.
That was seriously impressive from Churchill. Was able to easily lay up with Mehmas, dual 6f G2 winner, before extending and bolting up.
At least Churchill won so I did not get everything wrong! Well I did my Euros in with Zelzal and if I have seen the Arc winner it might turn out to be the final nail in the ordinary coffin 2016. Hope that the train back to Paris has the same fit inspector as the one out - she can punch my ticket!!!
True Toppy but the winner laid up easily with the pace he set for 6.5f before blowing him away..the third brings some decent collateral form to the table as well..was narrowly beaten by a colt the godolphin factory just paid a seven figure sum for. Poor thing.
Cheltenham handicappers beating Ascot Gold Cup winners Another one in the bag for the great man Frankie schooling Moore as well but that's not really surprising by this stage
Worried Mehmas out of it with all that barging. Bumped him at least 4 times after being readily headed and Frankie eased down last 100 yards when his chance had gone. Ted Walsh talking bollix on the replay.
Readily headed and still managed to bump him 4 times and get up to win..better perfromance than I thought. Ted Walsh Oddy?
Blaming you Gaz for my treble failing. Did the aways;City,The fabulous Athletic and Rangers...I must admit i've never ever watched a SPL game so was a stab in the dark. Bloody awful stab!
One thing this weekend proved beyond doubt is Pat Smullen is head and shoulders above Ryan Moore. Tactically Moore is clueless, he's no great judge of pace (see OOSG, USAR) and gets himself stuck in traffic far too often. Smullen can judge the pace to perfection, his ride on Shamreen was a peach. Won't be any surprise if 'the Lads' give Mr Moore his marching orders at the end of the year. In fact the only surprise would be if they didn't. Get Soumy in, he's the man.
QM...will you come to Ireland...maybe Leopardstown someday? I'd love to host you. I reckon I could get the best out of ya tbf. I know deep down you are a good laugh or craic as we Irish say
Beefy, to be fair, Moore is a top class jockey, not one bit of doubt but Pat is different gravy. Moore has such a high profile gig, it's impossible for him to ever be scrutinised but that's sport and competitive sport at its best. Ryan is sheer class imo, but Pat knows his horse and the race better than any I've seen or met and I had the pleasure of him telling me one of mine was an absolute donkey in the past
