Baily Green 6/4 Killarney 5.25.

Somewhat strange to see this as the reappearance of Finian's Rainbow. Can barely believe he's 12 years old. Another one from the Henderson yard that's been plagued with issues... Shame on them if they persist with him unless he shows up very well tomorrow. At 12 you'd hope he's showing plenty of sparkle to be coming back at all.

Good luck all.

It does fascinate me how certain trainers go from year to year with very little misdemeanours shall we say - but Nicky the Needle always seems to have stable stars missing for a season or two with mysterious 'injuries' - never happens with Paul Nicholls does it ????

My old favourite Maarek 8/1 runs in the 4.30 Longchamp tomorrow and looks way too big a price for me. Ran a good reappearance in a listed race and he'll have come on an awful lot for the run.

Would love to see him as like u is very much a favourite of mine but do you think the ground will be a little bit on the good side for him!

Pam sly has two interesting horses at Ludlow tomorrow-acertain circus runs in the 3 15 hurdle -drops in grade -in the 4 15 arkaim goes for a third cd win -both are 8/1 shots -I
Fireship has his ground in the 2 40 In eire group3 -his chance is better than his odds of 8/1 -I shall do a r/robin and hope for the best!

Denman, Master Minded, Big Buck's and The Nightingale are just 4 of his I can remember off the top of my head who had significant issues (career-ending in the case of Master Minded).

Agree Stick, a career in any sport is not going to be without injuries. That said though, a hunt horse would you'd think run a much bigger risk of death than a flat performer. I don't know the stats on the subject, but I'd be surprised if the number of years in services is enough to even out the ratio between hunt and flat. No **** intended here mate, just an observation. <ok>

Ludlow

Let me see if I can do this in a few short sentences:

Forget the classic trials at Leopardstown as the soft ground has removed anything worth seeing.

Prix Hocquart (Longchamp 13:30) – leave well alone.
Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Longchamp 14:08) – leave well alone as it has not been exported since 2007.
Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Longchamp 15:15) – forget the foreign raiders: ERVEDYA to win (but short on the PMU).
Prix de Saint-Georges (Longchamp 16:30) – forget the foreign raiders: Catcall to win.

Oddy - I take your point but Denman / Big Bucks raced till they were 12/11 and Master minded was 11 - sprinter and simonsig both crocked at 7 - u take the point though to a neutral that there seems to be an issue with the stable ? Or it just could genuinely be bad luck ?

I think it is largely just swings and roundabouts mate. I can't think Mr Henderson does things too much differently from Mr Nicholls in terms of training regimes. Henderson has been unlucky recently with some of the more talented beasts in his yard (the 2 you mention, plus Darlan (RIP) and MTOY), but he has managed to keep Long Run sound for several years (if a tad disappointing at times).

Slightly off topic but Aberdeen look huge at 7-2 to beat Celtic at home this afternoon. Celtic won the League last week and the trend across Europe in recent weeks is you win the League then relax a bit and start losing a few. Aberdeen are second and have a good home record so big win bet for me.

A nice easy looking double to boost the coffers for Ste's tip for tomorrow.

3.40 Lep SUCCESS DAYS
2.15 Lud QUEBEC

Pays around 3/1

Anyway back to business I think Highland Reel will win today in the French 2000g to advertise his Derby claims :)

He had yesterday's Lingfield Derby trial winner Kilimanjaro beaten by 22 lengths roughly in a two year old race last year. Not sure what to make of his last win at Goodwood but if he's came on from last year anyway at all, he will take some stopping.
