What a week! a takeover, a rat leaves the ship and where does that leave us? We still have the core of a good team, ATM, all we need is calm reasoned behaviour and a guiding hand to get the remaining pieces in place but please Rads do it soon because the window is opening ( I don't actually know when but it will be soon) and we have a preseason to get right, for once. All the signs are good for next year and when we get promoted we won't have to pay for the privilege, we have served our time.
Our future will very much depend on who Radz appoints as next manager. A wrong choice could easily push us back another couple of years. Jansson, Wood etc need to stay and if possible get Bartley back. We then need 3 quality players. A strike partner for Wood, another quality defender and a better version of Hernandes
Hi Elland - I agree just a few expensive pieces, I admit, but then look at the rewards. I don't want to messing about with the lucky draw tombola at the end of next season, like the scum loving dog botherers can only manage. Apparently Wagner thinks everybody other than Reading supporters will want them to win ????
The key factor now imo is whether Rad has real resources to build. I mean actual cash rather than promises for further down the line. No point in trying to attract a top manager if all he's gonna be give in the transfer window is the same as Monk got in January. I think that's when Monk lost interest in us anyway. He stated after the January window he was disgusted at how the club left business too late. Monk knew and we all know, a couple of decent signings then and we could have been in today's final. Instead he was give one mediocre and one useless addition to the squad. Of course, as with the year Grayson got **** on in January too, we'll never know and likely spend next few years lamenting the great chance we blew
I think CHINA (spoken like the trump) will be important to what happens next. If Radz can get an influx of Renminbi then it may work. He has influence and connections but cash....I'm not sure
But how will that work? Who is going to invest tens of Millions without a big share in the club? would Rad be willing to do that having worked so hard to get his 100% he seems so proud of
Morning ELM, 3 or 4 goodens needed, and can't afford to let any senior players go either. Cannot stand Wagner. Gutted Monk did not plant one on Wagners chin when he ran on the pitch
I wasn't Monks biggest fan, I didn't care stay or go, truth be known I was edging towards go. I do believe the latest Sky News report, Monk wasn't happy as he wasn't being consulted about signings or Directors. At first, the "directors" seems a peculiar one so you have to assume director of football, the guy who is going to be doing the actual signings. Monk obviously wanted to know that this director was going to listen to him, he wasn't going to go out and make signings without his approval. Cellino tried this and it didn't work so it is a dangerous route to go down, saying that I see the flip side, some of Monks signings were awful. The Celtic Griffiths link won't go away and as we don't have a manager/coach it's a strange one. I do hope the new coach or manager gets a bit of a say on who we sign, interesting week ahead
Eire mentioned Graysons season which is a huge question: If Bates had bought 2 or 3 players that Grayson wanted we would have been in the prem years ago. He refused because he thought we had enough as we were top 6 all season and top at Xmas. We finished 7th like this year. but look at the tears it took to get us back to where we were then. So the management position needs to be a good one and the managers expectations needs matching. Obvious that we will be building a new stadium and selling ER as part of our plan. Chinese investors will get the stadium built and have it named after them 'The Ali Babba Stadium' or whatever, and we get the cash for selling ER (More than we pay for it on the agreed buy back price clause) We need to keep the good players and bring in half a dozen very good players to guarantee going for it. Cant understand the Monk thing although you could tell he was pissed off at Xmas, you know Radz offered him 3 year deal but still wants to leave knowing that the fans who adored him will hate him now. So either the players he wants were out of the clubs reach or he wasnt guaranteed the cash. It cant be the new directors as these are specialists in their own fields. Marketing, buying stadiums, selling stadiums and building new stadiums, and Young academy talent spotting
todays final is league 2 youll be in it soon enough looks like you have bought Sacko for 1.7 million thought he was crap personally if you don't have a manager who made that decision surely could and should have waited looking like you are going the Italian route with a coach not a manager
Sacko was just prending to be crap. Infact Sacko's the next Ronaldo!!! (Though Shako reminds me of the other Ronaldo a bit) Ranieri is joining us... Auto's next season (to the Prem) One season just to settle us down European Champions by 2020 WACCOE Accccccccccccccccccccccccccciidddddddd please log in to view this image
The most important man at a football club is the man responsible for the team performance. He is the coach and should say which player is signed and who is surplus. His job will depend on the teams success or otherwise.
As i have read it the papers were saying monk wanted a 3 year deal and radrizzani only was going to give monk a 1 year deal and if he did ok extend it , but you can also see it from monks point of view that if monk got leeds promoted the owner could wait till monks contract runs out at end of 1 year and then get a big name manager in to manage leeds in the premier league so monk would not then be manager of a premier league club after all the work done to get leeds there.

not sure that's a good signing Mighty, end ball deliverance way off, as we all know by now. Having said that, maybe the new manager can bring him on, if he can he'll be a great asset.
You have to see him play to understand why they'd sign him. He has terrifying, electric pace, and even without delivering a good ball, he scares the living daylights out of defences. Because of this, he's usually double-marked, & sometimes treble-marked. He doesn't even need to have the ball at his feet for this to happen. Now it follows that if he is being close-managed like this, it means that someone else is freed up in space. He's also a tremendous 'out' when we need to clear from a set piece, so is played forward to attract markers & run on to a ball that's knocked into space. Which he does, & holds up the ball. Note that I do not advocate playing him for 90 mins for every game, as his repertoire is currently limited, but make no mistake - he is an asset. He is also young & should respond to development of his game. Even if he doesn't, he offers the team options that we don't have elsewhere atm. So how can you criticise him when you've never seen his strengths? I don't recall hearing any commentary or reading any match reports that regularly mention player movement off the ball. Occasionally, yes. Regularly, no. And that is the big difference between watch a match & basing an opinion on 2nd hand opinions. But you never grasp that, do you?
