To lovers of verse, may I take this wee space
To wish all, on their summer break,
Fair weather and sunshine, each in his own place
And a time free of football heartache
Me, I´ve forgotten already, this year
So low has it ranked amongst peers,
Nothing will come now of shedding a tear
Nor of drowning ones sorrows, so
Even this lightening at the end of the tunnel
Does little, it´s just a late blip,
All we can hope for is that we can funnel
Some of this, to next year´s Championship
Dog-walking, sun-taking, book-reading days
Will fill up the time that is ours,
And horse-tending too in the damp morning haze
Till the red setting sun, late-night hours
Whatever you do and wherever you do it
May good wind be your running mate,
And despite the fact that our team went and blew it
I´ll be back, for next year´s opening spate.
See ya´- bye!
