Jovetic is a class player, I think he will do well in PL, physically he is better than Silva for example

Unlike you, a lot of us actually have eyes, and so we know that our keepers aren't good enough for a side with CL aspirations

You barely ever see any weaknesses in the team, ;-).

Chesney was dropped for poor form, Fabianski is injured more often than he plays, and out of contract in summer. A GK is absolutely vital.

I'd love to see the breakdown of that. He seemed to be doing OK until we lost the Bayern Munich game. It was then that his performance from before that seemed to get rewritten.

I think Jovetic will be a massive success.

He has all the physical and technical attributes to be a 'World Class' CF.

Already mentioned, but trying to get rid of Diaby is going to be next to impossible. We are stuck with him for another year. Thankfully, this summer we are finally going to get rid of two of the biggest wasters at the club (Arshavin and Squillaci).

Well, it just seems to me that as soon as any player has a bit of bad form, or makes a mistake or two they are written off as being completely useless for the rest of ther lives. Schwarzer who has never played for a club that has made the top 4, is suddenly the answer to all our prayers. The guy is supposedly not even worth 1M pounds.

When we went into this season I thought everybody was reasonably happy that we had a goalkeeper to stick with for 10 years. I just don't know where that changed. Every goalkeeper in the league has made a few bloopers this season. De Gea, Cech, Hart have all looked shaky at times. I dont hear other clubs talking about upgrading them with Schwarzer.

I've been saying Shezza's been off form since LAST SEASON, for me his performance level has dropped since the start of 2012. Even Wenger last season said that Shezza was having a dip in form around that time, so for me it's not only based on this season, he's been average for us for a long long time, I ain't saying we should get rid of him, I think he has quality and class, but for now I firmly believe he should be number 2, to a more experianced and better number 1.

Erm Shezza also did bad against Blackburn in the previous game with that pathetic save he made from their first shot on target rebounding the ball straight back to a Blackburn player. Against Villa as well he let in a bad goal.

Those are the two bad mistakes? Honestly, how can anybody take you seriously?

Chesney doesn't need to be sold, he needs competition to ensure he's focussed. That means someone just as good as him.

Mannone isn't competition in Wengers eyes. Fabianski is but he's out of contract & perennially injured, therefore another goalkeeper is a must. Someone who can compete with Chesney for the No1 - bringing out the best in him, forcing him to train hard every day to get that position in the team.

Right now he can coast, and make mistakes, and still play.

We should defintely keep Sczezney. The guy could be a great keeper with the right coaching.

He broke into our starting 11 a little too young IMO.

We should bring in an experinced keeper for competition but also for him to learn from.

I have never seen Jovetic properly - but I read he can be a "world class forward" and will be "amazing" but looking at his stats from his club is not THAT impressive:

    29 appearances / 12 goals this seasons

    29 appearances / 14 goals last season

    His overall stat is:
    129 games / 39 goals

Exactly. People use the second striker argument, but he's hardly creative either.

He will suck at Arsenal, would not fit our system at all.

Looking at the players we have been linked with recently, how about this for a way to spend £70 million...

Raid Barca for Fabregas, Song and Villa - £40m
Get Cassilas from Madrid - £20m
A solid CB to compete with the ones we have - £10mil

    ---------------Cassilas-------------
    Sagna------Mert----Kos------Monreal
    ----------Arteta----Wilshere--------
    Walcott---------Fabregas-------Cazorla
    -------------------Villa-------------

    Subs: Scz, New CB/Verm, Jenkinson/Gibbs, Song, Ramsey/Rosicky, Podolski/Giroud, Oxocube/Gerv

we'll never get 3 players off of barca. they don't need the money and would rather keep them to have some semblance of squad depth.
we might be able to get fabregas and song, but i personally don't want song back. we made him great, he forced his way out to "the club of his dreams" barcelona, where he completely flopped. and i personally don't think we need a song type player. we need someone who can replace arteta in a few years (sit deep and keep the ball). song is not that player.

casillas would be a great buy, but i think once mourinho leaves madrid at the end of the season the new manager will reinstall casillas as 1st GK again.

a solid CB would be nice, but good luck finding one who can come in straight away at £10m. for that money the best we can hope for is a younger player who will hopefuly come good.

I am looking at our squad and I see 5 slots that Wenger will need to replace/upgrade. Sagna, Squillaci, Arshavin, Coquelin and Diaby (who will miss all next year, even if he comes back). There are no home-grown issues (I think).
So 2 defenders, and 2 midfield and an attacker.

So then we look to the youth team and we don't see too many that are ready to move up to a permenant place on the team (obviously we can still play them). A year from now, to replace Arteta and Rosicky maybe is more realistic.

So what do we need? A right back and a CB for sure. It would be nice if at least one of them could do both.

Two midfielders, both capable of playing in the 2 deeper positions.

One striker who can play in the middle.

So, I think we need 5 signings. If they are first 11 standard, those of you looking for a huge upgrade of the team, will get your wish. That is nearly half the team. However, I think it is likely that the CB will be young and inexperienced. I can't see a CB coming in and dropping Per, Kos, or TV down the line-up.

But I CAN see the other 4 starting on the first day of the season. Let us assume that Wenger does have 70M to spend. 5 players, hmmm, that 70M doesn't look so good now.

Let's assume he can get the 4th choice CB for what he can get selling fringe players, and also assume that he will not be a big name. Sorry, to the "Our defence is ****" crew.

Up front we need an expensive striker, so let's budget 25M-30M for him; 10M-20M for the other 3. So we're not going to get any of the really big stars.

I would say the names we are looking at are:-

Striker - Robert Lewandowski, Álvaro Negredo, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Midfield - Etienne Capoue, Milan Badelj, Pirmin Schwegler, Morgan Schneiderlin, Maxime Gonalons, Asier Illarramendi, Stefan Reinartz, Cesc Fabregas

Defense - who knows? There are a lot of defenders out there.

For me the areas that need to be strengthened are

CF - Goes without saying and I think we can all agree on this.

CM/DM - Frimpong and Coquelin have failed to make the step up and Diaby is Diaby. Need number in there and also need a new midfielder who can give us some much need power in the middle of the pitch.

CB - If TV leaves, then getting a replacement is more important but at the moment, I am really liking the Kos-Mert partnership.
