Serious question for the Newcastle lads. In 2023, your games have been as poor to watch as they were under Allardyce or Benitez. The football is very similar. Pardew even had you up there for a season and he was never valued.

Why is this sort of anti-football not a problem for you now under Howe?

He's not who I wanted to sign and it feels like 10-15m too much but he did have a good spell at the end of last season and looked a menace at the start of this. I'm absolutely certain Howe can manage him better than Lampard (I just think he's a better manager tbh) and agree that I think there's a player in there.

Don't like him though and my gut feeling is that this is the new owners first real transfer misstep.

If he can get the balance between graft and nasty streak sorted then will be fine.

If you ignore games like the 4-1 beating of Fulham, the 5-1 annihilation of Brentford, the game against Leicester when we were 3-0 up after half an hour and starting subbing off our first teamers to rest them then yeah. Good point. If you remove the exciting games then our games haven't been exciting.

I must have missed them games in 2023.

Keep thinking that there is a player in Gordon.

You must log in or register to see media

then think maybe £45m wasn’t a bad deal, the Scouse Iwobi?
9 of those yellows are for simulation too<laugh>

'We don't care about results, we just want to be entertained'

0-0 0-0 0-0

We've not been great in the 3 league games this year (0-0 1-0 0-0) but we have had 44 shots at goal in those games and remained unbeaten which is very different to anything we would have done under Benitez or Allerdyce. I'm not sure Gordon is the answer to converting those shots at goal either. I'm with Haslam. This could be Eddies first big mistake (though hoping it is just another one of many mistakes in my prediction history).

I gave saff too much credit and assumed he was actually trying to make a point. Complaining about the football we've played "in 2023" when we're still in January wasn't actually worthy of a response.

Shame that Gordon is cup tied, a 4th round game would have been good for him to get some minutes…..

We play alright passing football and are often on the attack, but we just don't have that cutting edge in front of goal.

Bit different than 7 at the back, bang it long and pray.

I could have elaborated. You've been safety first all season with your players going down injured a lot to break up the games.

It's working and you're doing well but it's hardly the entertaining football that is being claimed.

I actually think Gordon is a decent player and nowhere near as bad as being made out on here. I'd have a huge question mark over his attitude, though.
