Reminds me of Martin Jol appointment. He was alright I thought, came in at the right time, improved the style of football, got the best out of the players he had.
Yeah Jol's loved here at Spurs, he was the catalyst to getting us back into European spots and enjoying football again. I'm pretty optimistic over Ange's appointment. Feels like he's earned the right to manage in the Premier League after the success he's had in lower leagues and countries. There'll be question marks over whether he can step up but he's got about 26 years in management so I don't think it's gonna be as huge a culture shock as some of our fans are making it out to be. Ultimately a lot will come down to how well he's backed with both ins and outs, plus needing the time to implement his philosophy and having the players buy into it.
Brendan Rodgers was NOT full of bullshit ... ... there was absolutely no space due to the incredible amount of hot air. .
Jol was the most important of our managers since 1991 imo... he got us back into Europe and playing decent football. Laid the ground work for what followed. Treated appallingly by the club
Even as an Arsenal fan you couldn't not like Martin Jol. He was affable and effective for Spurs and did it all with a cheeky grin. Crazy the way that Levy shat on him. But then he's got form for that. I still can't fathom why you got rid of Pochettino, like Conte he was calling out the club to be more ambitious and instead he got the chop. Too early to tell what to make of this Angie fella. The SPL isn't really a measure of how he'll fare in the PL. More than likely that he'll catch the Spursy DNA and be out the door again within a year
Gerrard being touted to be new Leeds manager. Best thing for him would be they don't come straight back up. Do a minimum of a couple of seasons in the Championship and earn his stripes then make the step up.
He was unlucky with the whole "lasagne-gate" situation meaning they failed to get top 4. You can plan and prepare as much as you like but sometimes luck takes over. I did love his "The players are feeling very shick, they're ****ting in the dressing room right now" though.
Piss off, he can earn his stripes elsewhere. Been said today, we're still nowhere near making an appointment yet. Last night Gerrard had virtually got the Leicester according to sources.
