I remember my journey to Plymouth with my lot one season some decades back, and my day out was paid for by a Man Utd ticket tout. For some daft reason Man Utd were having to play a European game at their place but to get access to tickets, if you went to the Plymouth v Gills game you got a voucher, that entitled you to purchase a ticket, crazy idea, because I didn't need it, so waited until the Man Utd lads came round and bought it off me. @Chief knows about this, because we spoke about it before.

I remember why and who it was against, I think our support had been a bit naughty in europe, so our home game was as far from Old Trafford as possible. I was very young at that time, not even ten!

It was St Etienne though, that I do remember. And their top player was called Dominic Rochteaux.

I forget my own age sometimes and you are that much younger than me, but yes you are right.

When was that, if it was a rough looking bloke with a tash, could have been my Mrs. She’s excited for Wrexham, thinks deadpool will turn up to watch
It'll be a good 20 year since that happened

Neil also speculated on whether a successful Carabou cup campaign was just United finding their realistic now and future level, whilst Citeh's was more titles and regular Champions League challengers ...astute lad is Neil ...

Always chatting about Man City like it’s your club, like their 0 CL trophies means something, like Ten Hag didn’t paint Manchester red a couple of weeks ago. I can smell the fear Fosse lad, but don’t worry I won’t be visiting the Championship board to rub it in bro.

If Newcastle win the League cup I'll be happy enough for years to come. A trophy, any trophy, is better than no trophies - or at least I assume it is, other fans seem to suggest so.
Absolutely. I'm just keeping the faith that I live to see us lift a proper trophy at Wembley.

Hypothetical question. If you're a team struggling near the bottom of the league and both of your good players have contracts running out in the next year or two would you prefer to:

a) sell the players whilst they're still worth something and prepare for a good promotion push next season

b) keep hold of the players, lose them for much less at the end of the season and struggle in the championship next season

Asking for a friend.

No chance of survival then?

Newcastle will help em out. Imagine how much they will pay if they forked out £45m for Gordon.

I don't even mind the money we spent for Gordon (as we're recouping £20m for Wood apparently and are now getting some money for Shelvey - rumoured to be £10m+) too much. It's more that I think Maddison may have been realistic (perhaps deludedly) for £60m and I'd have much preferred that!
