I see Cody Mac has just put one past the binners.

Toby Alderweireld explained to the Dutch press today why he snubbed Norwich: "Norwich are very ambitious and they are a good team. But there is a big risk that it could be a relegation zone side with relegation zone football. And I don't know if I'm suited for that kind of football. I want to compete and play for the prizes. Here at Ajax I have that security, at Norwich I wouldn't. That's why I prefer to stay here for now."

So basically he wants a team to carry him rather than the other way round then? Wrong player for us with that mindset.

That's a bit harsh, IMO. Quality players like Toby are aiming for CL teams and don't see City as that (yet). We need to remember that icy chill we felt after the loss to Villa and the real threat of relegation with two games to go. Fortunately the team rose to the challenge against WBA and ManCity and ended up mid-table. If City can kick on this year in the manner of WBA and Swansea, this type of signing will be easier.

The thing is we need to get ready for the coming season, all this cocking around is no good for anyone.

He is missing out on a pre season as Celtic are not playing him so if we get him he will be behind on fitness than everyone else, our squad needs to be settled before we kick off the new season.

It NEEDS to be sorted out. Either sign or not, just make your ****ing mind up.

To be honest I think the main problem that is making this such a bloody boring and tiresome saga is us lot constantly going on and on about it and being so bloody impatient! I'd wager this is being dragged out no more than many other transfers we've made in the past, the difference is that nowadays with the internet forums, facebook and twitter we have become conditioned demand to know everything all the time - and we want to know it yesterday!

I've read some pretty ridiculous things on this thread in the past few weeks, why don't we just show a bit more faith and patience in Hootun and McNally and let them get on with doing what they have done pretty incredibly well thus far without some of the doom mongering and histrionics <ok>

Valid points, T_M_C, but many people are happier when there is some reassurance that things are being addressed - even though they all know they are.

It's a bit like hitting the "magical" 40 point barrier in the League, everyone is kinda convinced it will be achieved, but the sooner the better for relaxation purposes <ok>

Don't forget how long we were in for snodgrass for before we finally got him, seemed ages as well.

Norwich City striker Luciano Becchio hopes his maiden goal for the club is the first of many

“It was difficult for me when I first came to Norwich,” he said. “It was halfway through the season and I had to get used to a new team and new players. I was on the bench a lot and that was difficult. Of course I am happy to score my first goal for Norwich but it is pre-season, no, I want to score in the league and I want to keep playing in the league. I played the 90 minutes as well and that was hard for the first game but you just need to keep going and that is what it is all about in pre-season.

“It was a bit different to play a Mexican team but that is football and it was also very hot for us. I don’t think we are used to this sort of weather. We have to keep going now as I said before. It was a tough game in some ways but it was a very good one also for us. I think we performed well and now we need to keep going like this. I think it will help us take it into the next game on Saturday - not just in getting the result but also the performance.”

Hopefully he will gain some confidence now, I think he's going to do well, I think CH will give him the opportunity to show what he can do. Hopefully he will play against Everton, I'd like to see him up front with RVW.

see, i totally get the concern over his fitness and certainly understand people becoming impatient (i am too) but this isn't down to the player's indecision and he shouldn't be blamed at all. everybody knows he wants to move to the premier league but nobody wants to match celtic's asking price (which they no doubt keep moving upwards). hence why we've given them a take it or leave it offer because its blatantly celtic who are causing the problems here. they are now helped by the fact qpr are attempting to throw more money at them, meaning the fee now increases further still! i suspect mcnally is the coolest man in this deal and is going to sit and remain patient for as long as it takes to get our man. the only thing that would make me anxious is if west ham's rumoured interest is backed up with a bid because i think he'd rather go there than to us. this is all incredibly tedious and frustrating but does anyone want our club held to ransom over a potential footballer? i know i don't. they have made their stance - they should and will stick to it i'm sure.
