Is Middlesborough's scout someone who recently worked with us? I make that Butterfield, Ayala and Becchio they supposedly want from us now.
I think we have done our business for this window, gutted though that we haven't added another top CB especially as we made a large bid for one... Thought it would have been high on CH list after that!
Last minute buys don't interest me really. Much happier we got the business done early, look at Man United! Even Arsenal, I know they've got Ozil and that is a huge buy, but they haven't addressed the other problems they blatantly have like the defence and a goalkeeper and even a world class striker. We got pretty much everything we needed. Very happy, anything else is a bonus.
I wouldn't say there was any panic, it's just cover for Benno really. If we had to go with Redmond, Pilks and Snodgrass as wingers, with potentially the Murphys breaking through, I'm happy with that.
It would be quite the opposite of a panic signing - it would be an opportunistic signing! Purely speculative, but I think it sounds like a combination of: we have an injury which ideally needs short-term replacing at low cost, Vaz Te has handed in a transfer request and West Ham reckons he's been tapped up and on that basis they're unlikely to want to sell outright to whomever tapped Vaz Te up, but will not want an unhappy player. At which point, a loan move suits all! I think he'd be decent cover for Snodgrass. He's not bad and on a six month loan would be perfect.
I think we know we need cover on the wings following Bennett's injury. I wouldn't actually consider Vaz Te a bad signing, especially on loan. I would say he would offer more competition than Triosi would.
I like Vaz Te, but I feel pretty sorry for Becchio. By the way, how long is Bennett out for? When I first found out he was injured I tried to find out but couldn't find anything on it anywhere!
