    "absolutely shocking signing"
bollocks. signing me would be an 'absolutely shocking signing', not a swedish international with 70 caps and is hugely experienced as well as being a very decent player with both head and feet.

    "smacks of desperation"
in what way? signing an international striker who will only, probably be 3rd choice?

"plays very similar to RVM (whoever he is) and hooper"
well no, he doesn't. have you even watched him?

    "bit part player"
elmander was a regular starter for galatasary until a serious arm injury kept him out

    "he's 32!"
yay, you finally got something correct. so? ryan giggs is 40 and playing for the champions

I find Elmander a perplexing decision if true. It's not his quality I would question, rather his age - at 32 he is a short term signing, yet we will be splashing a fair bit in wages and transfer fees to have him as probably third choice, and that will bump Becchio down to fourth choice which is more than a little unfair on him.

Norwich's net transfer spend for this summer £21.7m taking into account that RVW was last year's money. Could this be perceived as a risk, or have we bought players that will improve the team sufficiently to make their values (and increased wages) worthwhile? On the other hand, are they of sufficient potential that we could sell them at a profit?

I largely think positively about the signings we have made and think they make good business sense.

I can only assume you know absolutely nothing about Turkish football then. I've seen him play for Gala quite a few of the times he ever played - I actually work in Istanbul, as a consultant for TurkTelekom (developing theor payments' business) owners of Avea, Gala's sponsors. And just to prove the point, happy to send you my Turkish mobile number for you to try if you want.

Elmander made 13 appearances last year - not because of injury but because he'd dropped way down the pecking order. When he first joined Gala he was played behind Milan Baros but then the formation was changed to allow them to play together as Baros was struggling for goals. He made 35 or 36 appearances in the year before last switching between playing with a striker and playing behind, sometimes even playing on Last year, he made 13 appearances, with 15 sitting on the bench as an used sub. He was actually out for 6 weeks because of a thigh injury not an arm injury as he ripped his quadriceps, in a Champions League game with Cluj in October. He then suffered a knee injury, which the Gala doctos believe was linked to his previous injury, in training in February keeping him out for a further 2 weeks. Throughout his career he has played in a number of positions midfield, behind a striker and as a front two, seldom has as an out and out striker.

You ripped off my description of how Hooper plays -before I mention him dropping back to pick the ball up in midfield form Brown, you never mentioned it. Now, you simply have no idea what you're talking about.

he definitely had an arm injury because it ruled him out cos i remember them saying it in commentary of a game! i don't watch turkish football so i shall give you the benefit of the doubt on the rest but please do not lecture me on gary hooper as i've watched him regularly for years and i know exactly how he plays the game thanks.

just to add, was it really a surprise that drogba was picked ahead of him? he played every game and did very well by the sounds of things before he arrived

BBC just put up some figures for the promoted Premier League sides summer spending:

    Cardiff City - signings 5 - £26.65m

    Crystal Palace - signings 8 - £11m

    Hull City - signings 10 - £10.85m

Every signing we've made looks like shrewd business, and we know that the money spent hasn't compromised the club into the future, so I'm comfortable with it. We can't afford to stand still, and for the first time I feel our squad is actually stronger than that of three other clubs in the league.

I don't need the benefit of any doubt as you're simply wrong. He had related thigh and knee injuries that kept him out. He never had an arm injury that prevented him playing, let alone a so-called 'serious arm injury'. So if you want to invent nonsense, that's up to you. He simply wasn't good enough to play. As for Hooper, show me one post where you mention him dropping into midfield to pick up the ball, prior to me writing it.

are you seriously suggesting i have to scroll through page after page of posts to find something to disprove you?

what kind of person says that?! i know gary hooper's game inside out and ever since i knew we were trying to sign him i've kept an even closer eye on him.

as i say, i'm going by commentary - i don't even remember when it was - maybe it was the year before. i don't even care if i've remembered incorrectly to be honest as it's irrelevant what the injury was - he certainly was injured as you've just stated!!

Err, no he didn't. Drogba barely plays, he tends to be only picked for the big games. Besides, they play in completely different positions! Drogba plays as a lone striker.

No he had two injuries - October and February. Firstly. to his thigh and then to his knee. He missed 8 weeks through his knee and thigh injuries.

He never missed any games do to an arm problem. Furthermore, He fell out with Fatih Terim as he had been dropped.

    are you his doctor?

i think i'll believe my memory and the report thanks <ok>

and missing two months of the season is quite a large chunk don't you think? hardly going to be playing every game, especially when new players came in the window. always going to be harder to get back in the team

He played 15 out of 34 league games. At least you yourself have disproved your nonsense about Drogba starting ahead of him They play completely different positions. Elmander plays more in the Sneijder role for Gala.
