Haha, I was waiting for that one - they can say what they want about you fella but you never let ME down
Haha, gave him a bit of stick about the thing on Soccer AM, Lee Croft Story Teller it was. He had some story on it about seeing a monkey in a tree at a park in Wigan. I walked past him outside Gunn Club and said 'Oi Lee Croft, there's a monkey in the tree up there', if looks could kill.
I see Craig Gardner could be West Brom bound for £2 million. I know he wants to be near the midlands but would you consider him? I think that's a very good price for him myself and scores a few screamers, does sometimes seem to be a bit of a bang average player. Personally I wouldn't because we already are strong in the midfield but interested to see what others think. Plus I think that's a very good price for him.
is that right, di canio flogging gardner?! he's making some big calls up there and i'm not keen on what he's doing at all. ps. he'd fit perfectly at west brom, would be a very sensible signing at a good price. i don't think we need him. we need someone with a creative spark
Sunderland will be a very interesting watch next season. It will either work or the whole team will disintegrate in an amazing fashion, with Di Canio spending most matches watching from the stands.
Gardner is in the first XI for this pre-season tournament against Spurs. Apparently Lee Cattermole has also had his usual squad number removed by Di Canio without any warning, which even for a player you want rid of, isn't good man-management. They've now signed more than 10 players, not all of which speak decent English. Gelling could well be a big issue.
A little off topic, but I recall an argument raging (which I have no intention of reigniting ) about the haves and have nots in today's Premier League. The fact that there are 2 - maybe even three leagues within one. I think this kind of illustrates the point - Norwich are grouped in with the second example, by the way.
Lol, but it's true. (His release clause is £26m, so that would actually be a waste of time ) RvW was a massive signing for Norwich, by far the most we've ever laid out on one player. But other's spend that sort of kite just to have a Scott Sinclair or a Sean Wright-Phillips play for the reserves
It should all end in tears, too much too fast. But if what he has said of the lazy, billy big bollox attitude around the senior squad is true, then its little wonder he see's this as the only way forward. Some may tread on eggshells just in case the players can't be offloaded, but I kind of like his, my way or the highway stance. Afterall if the players really are as lost as he has implied, only the good ones will still be able to take a degree of critism and come out stronger for it! Would I like it to be happening at NCFC, hell no the Mackems are welcome to him! Bah!
Well, it's much the same in every league, at least in the major footballing countries. A European Super League of mega-rich clubs would create more of a contest between financial equals. It would operate on the US model, with clubs bidding for the ten or twelve (or however many) franchises. Then a second not-quite-so-Super League would be set up, and so on. This would be marvellous for all those pseudo-fans who have no real affiliation with the clubs they support. Myself, I'd rather continue as we are. At least we have the satisfaction of putting one over the big spenders from time to time, because when it comes to it, with 11 v 11, on any given day anything can happen no matter the relative cost of the teams.
he implied similar things at swindon to be fair - didn't do them any harm (well, on the field, he practically bankrupted them off it). it could go either way - i can't see them having a dull, mid table season! he'll either get them flying in the top half and some of his new signings will look inspired, or i feel its far more likely it'll all blow up in his face, he'll storm off and leave the new incumbent a split dressing room full of disgruntled players, some who don't speak the language and only signed cos di canio was there. it really does have disaster written all over this but i suppose you never know.
