Does it matter? Lucumi isn’t being let go and we’ve just watched Mukiele have an unreal debut at CB. Move him there and sign a RB, save money and allow more funds for an attacker?

I think that makes sense but everyone is entitled to an opinion
It matters because we currently have less at centre half than we have at right back. We also have a complete lack of prospects in that position. And we have a right back who plus week in week out. Now if this thread has had a road to Damascus conversion and is happy to back the likes of Ballard up with Seelt, Alese and O’Nien then that’s fine. But it’s important that the club gets this summer right. And that’s almost as much about how all this money does for us in future as it is about this season.

At least the lucumi saga will be over with in 21 hours one way or another. Really hoping we can get a couple forward options in.

I don’t quite get you here…

the CB options of who could play there would be

Alderete - Mukiele - Ballard - Geertuidra- Reinildo - O9

is that not more than enough? All top quality players who wouldn’t struggle to fit in there (even O9 <laugh>)

Our first choice CB’s will be Mukiele and Alderete. Geertruida and Ballard as cover. That’s more than good enough for a newly promoted side.

Just remembered Reinildo can cover there as well. We’re good for CB.

I’m struggling to understand how signing Lucumi and playing Mukiele as RB depth is any different to if we signed Mukiele as a CB today and Geertruida as RB depth
Colour me shocked:emoticon-0105-wink:

Last week was mukiele your starting centre half? Last week was he the clubs starting centre half? Is this new lad a genuine centre half option as a starter? As I said at the very start I’ve not seen this other lad. Didn’t stop the pass agg from you, though, did it lad?

**** it, it wasn't the plan - the plan was to get Lucumi. Bologna have held firm and that isn't happening so we need to pivot.

Geertruida is a Dutch international who can play RB, CB and DM well. Big, strong lad with a bit of pace too. His ability to play multiple positions allows us to be tactically flexible during games. His CV is Feyenoord & RB Leipzig. He's played European football every year since he was 19.

I'm certainly not turning my nose up at this lad. I'll trust that we will create the new plan for him.
