Why would any big name player want to go or stay there now if they know they could get trapped and won’t be allowed to leave.

I will never worry about sustained success for Newcastle. They’re an absolute circus and always will be. Having them as our rivals is a lifetime blessing.

Choosing their words very carefully to reframe the narrative. Isak has never said that he was promised he'd be allowed to leave the club this summer, which is what they're refuting. As far as I understand it, he was promised a new contract which was reneged on and now he doesn't trust them.
Calling him part of the family whilst excluding him from family events is an interesting version of events mind.
They have this wonderful habit of getting themselves into a terrible mess and then allowing it to get infinitely worse!
I thought it was interesting the line about no commitment from an club official, the rumour i heard was that Amanda Staveley promised him a move but she's since left. So that would tie into it, if there was nothing promised just say there was no promises made full stop!
