He's getting paid a fortune to give unbiased opinion on a match, irrespective of which teams involved, if he can't do that he should be sacked. Enough complaints may embarass the BBC to at least make some token comment.

I'm afraid the BBC is completely immune to criticism of any kind. They don't have to sing for their supper, they are given nearly £4bn every year to waste as they please.

Which is why they can afford to pay Shearer and many others absurdly high wages for stuttering through some banal remarks about football. Almost any journalist could do better. Many on here could do better. Most ex high level managers could do better

But they aren't part of the gang. The BBC has no need to change, so it won't.

Better than Longstaff gets goals and assists but he's homegrown and English that up the price and Newcastle Saudi tax so yes about right price

It might have been the "right" price after his first season . But he's had two pretty ordinary seasons after that.

He won't get into that midfield very often. £40m+ is a lot for a makeweight.

He’ll play plenty with CL games and both cups to come. They’ll want to go deep in all competitions, loads of games

This country needs the bbc but it certainly shouldn’t be employing petulant children who can’t conceal their pathetic bias.

Not defending Alan Shearer but he did joke on 5 live at around 12pm that luckily Wayne Rooney was doing Sunderland and he was doing West Ham so he’ll avoid getting any stick. So the decision was made before we won.

I don't think there is a need at all myself. I refuse to pay the tax, and if it was as marvellous as they say it is, they could charge a tenner a month to those who want it .

But that's another point. MOTD is just a good example of it's laziness and complacency. Shearer must have been on there for fifteen or more years and has yet to utter a single original comment that I've heard or heard about.
