Think the idea behind 2 games in rapid succession is that all players in Le Bris’ plans get 90 minutes against comparable opposition. We don’t know who or who isn’t in the first draft of the match day 1 team sheet but I’m imagining it will be settled by the end of this weekend.

Which of the two teams we are playing is the best one.
If one is the equivalent of a premier league team and the other is a championship level team I would expect our first choices would play against the highest ranked one.

So then, which is the highest ranked? Augsburg or Rayo Vollecano. That should be the clue as to which of our teams is playing them.

*just seen pictures with some first teamers like Hume and Ballard off to Augsburg.

I think it will be a mix for both.

give RLB a chance to fine tune starting 11 and bench for west ham

I mean yeh I back them over me as well. I just think two games in two days and having one be a “first team” and one be the “backups” is absolutely terrible for morale. Especially when the “first team” all jet off to Germany on their own and the back ups get left behind and all sit around watching it.

Seperate the games 48 hours and you can at least keep your squad together; with players on bench and etc

It's only terrible for morale if it's not been managed properly.

The players haven't just found out about this. They've known for weeks that there were 2 games and they will have been aware that the likely first 11 for West Ham will be playing Augsburg.

If RLB has told them that and the ones left behind have been told to get their fitness up to be ready to make an impact from the bench in the first week then I don't see how that can damage morale.

Does Dan Neil feel better if he travels to Germany, sits on the bench and is then on the bench again at West Ham without having a lot of pre-season minutes? I'm sure he cares more about getting up to fitness so that he can win his place back.

I’d lost faith in Mepham long before he was dropped.

It took RLB longer but I’ve never thought we’d make the deal permanent.

He's good in the Championship but not consistently PL standard in my opinion.
I think had Bournemouth not activated the 1 year extension we would have taken him on a free as a decent squad player.
Bournemouth obviously activated to get a fee, but I'm not sure that's likely

If Le fee is playing in the home match I don't think it would affect him, he's professional and he knows he'll be a part of this squad. He'll know he needs 90 mins on the pitch and I'm not sure if I'm right or not but I believe the Spanish team is the better of the two friendlies

I genuinely think Le Feè is the first name on the team sheet. More so than Xhaka, Diarra or any of our other big signings this summer.
Xhaka is the 1st name on the teamsheet for me, brings something different to everyone else. Then it's a battle between Le Fee, Sadiki and Diarra for the other 2 spots. I do feel as the season goes on Rigg will stake a claim for it as well.

Would love to see le fee and Xhaka in the middle trying to dominate the ball, but also quite like the idea of Sadiki and diarra together too. Xhaka is the only one I can’t imagine on the bench.

Those four will always play 30 or 60 mins I reckon. I believe in the staff and players to build a healthy camaraderie.
