I genuinely think there is a reluctance on the part of some clubs to do any business with them. Indeed Howe, with his " we have no friends in the market at the moment" remark last year conceded this. Mind he need not have included the "in the market " bit!

I have a Palace supporting mate and he said to me that Guehi would probably have been sold to another club if they had offered what that lot had last summer. He might have been guessing, but he was adamant .

In any case, the pattern is very bold. And there will undoubtedly be some players who , for private reasons, would not want to play there.
