You might be right, I don't know the ins and outs of their finances. But there's a huge list of players they want rid of and even if not for financial reason they need tem out cos their squad is so bloated they've got so many players they can't make use of them all.
I think that's a lot of money for a relatively inexperienced kid, but I do absolutely get he's very highly rated.

All signings are a risk to an extent but this is a position I’d rather we didn’t take a big gamble on, like the idea of an experienced centre back in the bade and diakete mould with a cresswell or the spurs kid as the other option
Nothing been said on Diakite for a while now. Would love to think it’s one we’ve been working away on in the background (based on other people’s opinion of him).

Think we need to reign ourselves in a bit. A lot of top clubs also need cb’s. The likes of bade diakite etc will surely have better suiters than us. We may have to look in slightly smaller pond or wait and hope they do not all go. Just my opinion and really hope I am wrong
You may be right mate. However, it wouldn't be the first time we've come up with a really good player to try to fill the gap that nobody's had previously on their radar.

My take
All the media was playing hard ball similar to Xhaka and we’ve given them an offer they’re now happy with last week, which is when the news of the WBA defender broke and they started pushing a bit harder for the USG defender etc.
They agreed if they got someone in, but we’re starting to push them to get it sorted and they realise it’s a pretty high fee for someone who will diminish in value because of the contract situation and now considering selling
Now they’re meeting with Lucumi again, which now feels like he’s ready to leave
