Sorry, Dominic Calvert LewinWhat’s DCL?
We have these same arguments every summer. It was previously left backals - I remember Dan Neil starting there in league one - and obviously strikers. It is what it is and I'm pretty sure the club have irons in lots of fires but the last thing I want them to do is spunk a load of money on a player - like we did for djobdji and ndong - just to appease a few inpatient fans. If we have to start the season with ballard and seelt or the Madrid defender so be it. Its not ideal obviously and we might lose the game but it's a long old season. If it takes a few weeks to get the right defender then I'm prepared to wait. Remember the impact Evans had and we didn't have him immediately. Good players can adapt very quicklyThere’s even more mental considering Ballard and seelt are the only two fit CBS for the first couple weeks.
Reports are that we made DCL an offer
It was a report that we made an offer to him but didnt go any further dont think its an active discussionHmmmm. As long as its pay as you play deal then I'm OK with it. Different to what we've got. Probably horseshit though.

I am bored. I have therefore invented a new recruitment process for the club. All this scouting and data seems a bit 2024 to me.Players with the surname Anderson do well for us. The lad deserves a chance, on that basis alone!
Hmmmm. My own opinion is that as supporters we have been burned for decades with relegations and false dawns. So we can be forgiven if we don’t get fully on board. That said I am as optimistic as I can be and genuinely do believe that with KLD in charge we are in excellent hands. And this time there is something there that in my lifetime was missing. I just want it to be us. Not another team.Relegations finished Bob Murray's and Ellis Short's time at the club, I don't have that fear with KLD.
I think you're missing the point that people almost believe they can control it Smithy.
Constantly advising the club who to sign, how much to pay and how to play them seems reasonable to some people ...
... it's all 'we're desperate' 'must sign this week' 'offer another £5m' etc.
In reality though, as you say, we may as well sit back and either believe the club are doing their best or not, it's that simple.
absolutely looking forward to it and absolutely hoping for the best, also trust those in charge to continue to give it a go and give us the best chance of making this season a massive success.
none of that means people cant also be slightly concerned that as yet we haven’t strengthened a really important position.
probably them just wanting the absolute best for their team
can’t believe people get so worked up about someone else view, would hate to live my life like that![]()
No man it's Eddie playing 4D chessif sesko does end up at man utd i think the mags are fecked, one way or another...many reports that isak wants away then they actually show willingness to pay big, much more than offered to any previous targets (going off previous reports) so they really could end up in 'panic mode' as i very much doubt isak will be happy to stay, might even chuck his toys out and take a big fine to get his move plus any further striker targets will want the same or more than they offered for sesko then add that any team throwing money reaching 100M around will get hit with 'wealth tax' on any other possible targets.
really starting to look like a novice playing in the big poker league for the first time, and we all know how that usually ends up.
PS: we will get CB's![]()

A bit of a convoluted way of saying I’m very excited.

Financially I’d expect we’d be totally fine as you say. It’s the disruption that comes with losing every one of your midfield options for example (as I’d anticipate we would). That level of upheaval doesn’t help you to yo-yo back to the PL in a single season.I hate to give an argument why relegation wouldn't be a disaster, but I honestly disagree with your take here, all of these lads, with the exception of Xhaka, are young and have signed long term contracts and would likely be easy to shift, either as season long loans whilst we try to get promoted, or as sales, some we might make our money back on and some we might make small losses but that's not disaster, it can enable reinvestment in new players. We've actually recruited very well as all these young lads are valuable assets even if relegated.
Weak defence and forwards who have really struggled to score? Not looking too clever from where I am standing likeDon’t see that as a given at all.
