Was looking at something you may be interested in yesterday. In 22/23, when RLB's Lorient side were good and had a squad full of good players, 20 players hit the 1k minute mark in all comps. Compare that to 15 in 23/24 where their squad was much weaker and 15 with SAFC last season.

Does it suggest that with a better squad he is more willing to rotate?
Bloody hope so!:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Yes I think so. He didn’t have a bench he trusted a lot

I think he started using it more towards the end of the season when players were returning from injure

Think we’d all have loved to see have seen the young lads that got us promoted thrive in the premier league but realistically most of us knew some/most weren’t good enough right now and we needed to improve drastically. We don’t really have the time to have a season of “bedding in” we need to survive the first season at all costs if we want to establish ourselves back as a regular at this level. Had we not replaced so much of the squad and went on to finish rock bottom with a tally similar to that of Southampton last season (which I think would’ve been very possible) then questions would’ve been asked and we could’ve been set back a few years. You don’t push with this much ambition just to stand still when the real challenge starts.

KLD has done the right thing imo the club knew we needed huge improvements all over the pitch. The club isn’t going back on its roots of bringing through academy lads but the step up is massive and I’m sure any sane fan would rather a much better chance of survival than getting hammered every week just to give the local lads their shot in the PL. It may seem harsh on the likes of Neil and Patterson but the younger lads coming through like Rigg will benefit 10 fold from playing and training alongside much better players. Exciting times ahead.
As Brainy says, you've nailed it for me as well

Puts that strange rumour to bed
Another solid signing for Derby I think. However, I can't get over the amounts being spent (incl wages) in that league this summer. 6 or 7 clubs are pushing themselves towards win or bust territory. Could be some absolute chaos in a year or so.

I'm not a great fan of the loan system...in or out...but,I do think this lad feels just right for us. He seems to be a mix of a conventional centre forward and what we might want in our attacking play.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills for Brewster. I've watched him loads of times now and he is absolutely useless every single time. Sheff Utd fans were bigging him up last season saying he was finally coming good and he was honking whenever I saw him. He'd probably be fine at a lower level but I don't think he's a championship footballer.

I think for Patto right now rather than be a back up is a nice move to Southampton

get enlarged wages as parachute team, wages that are gonna be consistent as there’ll be no draw down on relegation as you’re already in the champ

could easily get to 25k a week

over 3 years, class earner, could go back up

I think the same for Neil, get the bag at a relegated side or go abroad where the tempo wil help

I don’t see the value in giving Neil a deal that he feels he deserves when his appearances will be limited

just the way it is, use the wiggle room as a club to then further double down on the market

i wonder if these sales are already priced into their spending or if it would allow more

Think its because he got stopped playing as a striker and more of creator because he just couldn't score goals - a 10 who gets like 3 goals a season is rated better than a striker who only gets 3

Been a massive flop - always thought we would of got him in league 1

I'm of the view regarding Neil, its time to go. Initially I really wanted the lad to stay, I am a Neil fan, he is a local lad, captained his hometown club at Wembley to promotion, yet this doesn't seem enough for him to put pen to paper... If he feels he is under appreciated or being looked over, them sadly its time to go. Hate to say that, but it is what it is.
Patto, for me...is simply not Premier League standard. Great Championship keeper, but aspects of his game have not developed in the last couple of years

Wonder if we announce Guiu today so he can join the squad tomorrow, would make a difference to actually have some of the first team squad to come off the bench against decent opposition
I don't think any of Roefs,Xhaka or Guiu will feature tomorrow, other than a possible introduction on the pitch?

One of the lads OTR who gets flight information says the plane that’s just landed at Newcastle from Paris is SAFC related but club are wanting to keep it hush as deal isn’t full done so no name given.

exciting if true

Wonder who is it.
If club wanting it kept hush I wonder if it’s someone who hasn’t been linked in the press yet.
