Spot on. When I was at university and did some statistics for my degree work, the lecturer used to say "put rubbish in, get rubbish out" and stressed the importance of using the right statistical test and the right parameters to use. Stats are meaningless without the context you're analysing them in. It's easy to get stats to confirm your position on something, just by ignoring the ones that contradict you.
