Giving our club captain and the only midfielder we're likely to keep £40k seems reasonable in my view. That'll drop to below £20k if we get relegated, which is perfectly reasonable. Wouldn't surprise me if Ballard is already on around £40k with his promotion rise. If we stay up for a couple of seasons, £40k will be reserve player money.
I don’t think he’ll be captain for much longer.

He’s lost his shirt unfortunately. Le Fee is just better than him in all aspects, and I can’t see how he gets ahead of our record signing in Diarra and then potentially Xhaka.
I know Sadiki had a horror show v Hearts, but I’m still more impressed with him than Dan Neil so far this pre season too.

Neil just slows it down so much. It’s infuriating, because he is a very good passer of the ball. Just doesn’t have the quick tempo that’s needed.

They keep bemoaning PSR (and the 'cartel' (ffs) by proxy) as the source of all their woes but there's a lot there to suggest that it's actually cashflow that's an issue. I struggle to reconcile how that can be with their owners but there's something amiss.
Them and their owners are perfect for each other. Massive delusions of grandeur and absolutely zero appetite for doing the hard work to build strong foundations. It's Neom in the premier league and I absolutely love it:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I was discussing the Xhaka situation, last evening, and responding with logic and courtesy ...

... I was eventually met with rudeness for no reason whatsoever, absolutely no need for it.

If people want a debate, on an open forum, they should learn how to speak to everyone, not just their chosen 'elite few'.

As for understanding football and having the skillset to do so is concerned, don't get above yourself.

I could quote dozens of times you, and others, have decimated players, called them donkeys and that they should be binned instantly.

You did it yourself with Ekwah when you said he was useless and his contract terminated then, at a different point, should be brought back because he was just what we needed ... all in the same season.

Players are regularly written off but that's all conveniently forgotten when they turn out like Mundle, Mayenda, Hume etc..

If posters want to be sarcastic and insulting that's fine but I'll always respond in kind.

The forum is for everyone.

Not getting above myself at all. It was for the lads who spend time doing the data, presenting it and sharing it with players we are linked with. That takes skillset. I am not the one doing that they are. Remarks such as (offer services to the club) to the data lads is just blatant sarcasm. It happened from the same poster when discussing injuries etc.

Then the usual victim card come out. It's the same every single time. As I said previously, the forum is for everyone but Christ some just like to argue for the sake of it and it's usually the same posters. Ignore button is there is certain tastes are not preferable.

And I don't think there will be much of a line of PL teams queuing up to sign him. Although that's what many thought would be the case if we didn't get promoted.
If he's not a nailed on started for us, where else would he go.
I genuinely don’t have a clue. Drop back down to the championship - Ipswich, Southampton?

That button really is a livesaver, not dragging myself into petty arguments anymore <laugh>

I'm with you, mind. If he's asking £50k, give him £40k. That's fine for a PL squad player. And we really need some midfielders who we'll have a shot at keeping hold of in case the worst happens.

I've seen a few comments mention "squad player" and whilst I'm inclined to agree; maybe the feel in the camp is that all positions are up for grabs? If he showed he can cut it in the prem and was starting week in week out, I don't think many would disagree with 50k

Problem is the comments weren't directed at anyone presenting any kind of data or even fact.
Funny you state its the same posters causing the arguments, yet its quite noticeable how it's also the same posters that get involved in these arguments depending on the participants

A few things
1) I’m an old bastard
2) I don’t understand the data things so I skip past them
3) I’m not in a clique
4) Post what you want without needless abuse
5) stop announcing “retirements” from the board.
6) disagreement of opinion should provoke a healthy discussion, not a faux accusation of a personal attack
7) I might not like what people say, it doesn’t mean I don’t like them.
8) save your energy for important things.
9) I’m a few years from retirement with no pension to speak of. So just wait till 2028 if you want to see ratty old bastards with too much time on their ****ing hands
10) I wanted to make it to 10

11) if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
