What is the latest on Sunderland’s transfer pursuit of Jhon Lucumi?

A fresh report from Italian outlet Quotidiano Sportivo states that the Black Cats are willing to return to the negotiating table with an improved package for Lucumi, which would consist of an initial £17.4 million plus a further £1.8 million in add-ons, totalling around £19.2 million.

As things stand, it is claimed that Sunderland, led by Director of Football Florent Ghisolfi, are awaiting a response from Lucumi himself, and will push ahead with a higher bid if they receive signs of encouragement from the player.
Once again, it is also stated that the 27-year-old’s agent is currently in Spain - where Atletico Madrid and Villarreal are said to represent potential destinations - while Bologna continue to scour the continental market for prospective replacements. Union Berlin’s Diogo Leite, Union Saint Gilloise’s Fedde Leysen, and Genoa’s Koni De Winter are all on the club’s radar.

We've also been told that Lucumi is our priority, and we are making a new bid close to their valuation, and they have been looking for replacements, and he has said no to a new deal
We’ve been told lucumi is our priority by Scott Wilson who is a notorious ****e hawk

Was it the same shoulder? I genuinely don't know.

Just seems a bit of a stretch to even suggest he might have to retire IF it happened again
Same shoulder 3 times. Had surgery after the second and then did it again

you can’t keep dislocating the same shoulder

I think we have the makings of a very good defence if we can shake off the injury hangover, sadly I think we’re a season behind with everything.

Alese has the quality, Ballard needs a good solid season and Huggins could do with a run of games. We’ve no idea how O’Nien or Cirkin will cope, they could surprise people.

I’d guess RLB will go for a proven CB on loan or a purchase if he’s the right man for the job. Having an experienced Champions League defender, in Reinildo, will definitely help and we’ll see where he plays in the friendlies, perhaps we’ll get a surprise. I’ve think he’s been ignored a little but he has the experience we need in my opinion.

I’ve taken the stance of ignoring previous injuries tbh, once they're declared fit I clear the slate …

… who knows, Alese may never be injured again.

If Cirkin plays like he did before the wrist injury, it'll be no surprise to me that he's stepped up and O'Nien just keeps surprising everyone, so just can't be ruled out.

I think Reinildo and Cirkin will be fine at LB. I'd be more worried about RB, if I'm honest.

We need 2 CB reinforcements though. A steady 6 of 2 newbies with Ballard, Seelt, Alese and O'Nien will do me, with loans for Johnson and Hjelde to top end Championship clubs or Ligue 1 in France.

I don’t agree with us only getting one.

it would be mental and I think the club know that too, seelt is proving himself but we haven’t got a single CB at the club proving consistent yet

O9 is injured and if he does it again his career could be over

hjelde and alese have injury problems and not played consistently

seelt is coming back from a major knee injury and hasn’t really played senior football

Ballard has injury problems of his own and also has to prove consistency

if we don’t sign two CBs I’ll be disappointed personally

I've said RB is a weak position for us . Huggins is a risk. Not proved himself consistently due to injuries. Similar to Seelt imo.

If we can, as people on here said, rely on Huggins despite what little we've seen of him surely we can for Seelt as well

We have other players that can cover right back though.

whereas CB we don’t really have a consistent CB yet

No idea on the validity of the source but interesting nonetheless

Always like to have a look at who follows the source for it's legitimacy, and for this fella all I have is 'followed by Danny dichio', I'm In!!
