The overwhelming point for me if RLB is firmly embedded in the conversations about who to bring in, and is the person who has to manage the squad and their expectations.

Me saying if he wants it I'll back him isn't me dismissing valid views of fans. It's me saying that he's the one who's problem it is so he's the one who gets the benefit of the doubt.
Did FG or KS not say that them, RLB and KLD must all agree that a player is worth signing before we bid for them

Yep and the Echo were saying that 50% of RLB's time is with the transfer team and 50% with the players on the training ground. He's fully embedded much more than what might have been expected for a team with essentially two directors of football.

Fair enough, I am sure he is a good player. I dont think the Belgian league is a barometer for the premier league and I would be apprehensive of throwing them all in at once. We have to be really careful not to isolate so many new very young lads in a whole new experience for them. For me anyway.
It'll all be about who impresses and who can build those partnerships

I want to see Neil with Diarra and Le Fee at some point to see how he gets on

Diarra and Le Fee are 2 of the 1st names on the teamsheet for me, 2 cracking footballers so it'll be who links best with them that'll start

Based off just 45 minutes in a friendly but it seemed to me like Sadiki playing in the "Neil" role was able to press much higher than Neil would, without leaving the defence exposed. Hume was stepping into the "Neil" role in possession allowing Sadiki to run all over and use his stamina.

It seemed to me like Sadiki was performing the role in a way Dan Neil simply can't (through no fault of his own).

Obviously what we don't know is if that was intentional or simply Sadiki being ill disciplined in his positioning!!!

Sadiki also just called himself the little brother of kante so we know who he’s modelling his game off

Chris Rigg, Nectar Triantis, and Anthony Patterson all missed out against Sevilla on Saturday and are likely to be unavailable again, although Régis Le Bris confirmed that the trio only have minor injuries.

Reinildo linked up with the group on Friday evening, but Monday’s match will come too soon as he builds fitness after returning from the FIFA Club World Cup.

that's weird. he specifically said they didn't have injuries when asked in his interview. Perhaps he meant not major ones.

Bit odd as I'm not sure we need him, but fair play

Yeh the profile doesn't seem right to me but Regis must like him. I can only guess it's to play in the "10" role that Enzo was in on Saturday, but then also potentially fill the left wing back up spot.

Patto and Rigg didn't train today, RLB clear that he is working on the core lineup so likely to see a similar first XI to last game. Last chance for players to impress RLB then he will start making decisions.

Abdullahi get some goals lad

That they’ve thought about it doesn’t mean they’re right about it though. A massively inflated squad size is a terrible idea for us this season for many reasons. Not least because Reggie doesn’t really rotate. However add in the idea that our fallback relies on these players generating good money if we fail to stay up and we start to create our own problems. The only reason Leicester are getting their cash back on el Khannouss is because he played over 2000 pl minutes. But with a projected squad of more than 25 outfielders sharing only 38000 minutes between them it becomes harder to maintain that reputation - particularly when we’ve got such a massive number of players in attacking areas. According to fan wishes, we’re lining up for 6 midfielders, 5 wingers, 4 strikers plus a dedicated number 10 all vying for 6 shirts plus a few seats on the bench. That’s crazy to me - and way beyond what most of teams will actually carry.
Highly doubt any of our current signings drop in value. Decent afcon and their value will rise. Also any minutes in prem adds value

With the Laurienté deal ending I would prefer to add the £20million to the two CB’s fund.
I don’t know the figures but if we were thinking of £50m for 2 x CB’s I would rather have £70m for the two and that would get us Lucumi and Diakite.
We didn’t really need Lauriente as we have plenty others for his position so we don’t need to get a Lauriente replacement.
We DO need a pair of CB’s like the above. We would have definite Premier quality with them 2 whereas with 2 x £20m players we may be just below the quality needed.

I do agree, but the world from the club via Phil Smith etc is that we have moved onto alternate targets to Lauriente

I have no doubt they tried it. Just no chance it got them 5 titles. They got them because they were the best team, playing the best footy and had the best manager at the time.
Have to agree to disagree I’m afraid. Intimidation, fergie time and howard webb won them titles

I hope Roberts gets a run out with the 1st half team of Saturday, I reckon Young might start in goals as well
