Why would Liverpool be interested in such shenanigans? If Ekitike was first choice they'd just bid for him.

Isak is 1st choice. Ekitike the closest 2nd choice in terms of style of play.

Liverpool were playing a slightly longer game but Newcastle bidding for Ekitike forced Liverpool to move quickly.

They've pissed off Newcastle (laughably) in the process and maybe made a deal for Isak more difficult next year.

Not Ideal for either club imo and mostly because Newcastle have developed this mentality that everything is personal against them.

Newcastle and Forest are very similar in this regard at the moment, strange clubs.

Age doesn’t matter to me for a player of that quality. We need players that are gonna keep us up and we do need some players who have the experience like he does aswell as quality

the deal has to be right of course

Exactly, I get folk being concerned about his age and spending good money on him but he elevates the team massively imo

He has been a stand out in a Leverkusen team that's finished 1st and 2nd since he's been there. He's playing close to the best football of his career, it would be a massive statement signing

I dont want us just to bring in 'experienced' players for the sake of it, they have to improve us on and off the pitch - xhaka would definitely do that

I just honestly can't see it happening, my gut feeling is we wont see in a Sunderland top this seasom

Anyway what's got lost a bit in this thread is that Fab linked us to Zambo-Anguissa last night. Nothing too advanced and felt a bit agent-led to me, but that's a pretty exciting link if Xhaka doesn't come off? (AFCON of course but I've given up complaining about that)

Totally get that mate. Just feel he’s the exact sort of profile we need. I still worry about this young squad coming up against quality players week in, week out.

However there’s one journalist that when he says something I listen (outside of the big obvious ones)
