On the Dan Neil contract stuff, I wonder if the issue could be his role in the team? With all our signings, maybe he's been told he'll likely be a squad / rotational option and isn't keen on it? No clue and I would have thought he'd be the type to be happy to fight for his place but I can't really see any other reason he wouldn't sign the contract...
Was stalling before we signed anyone

Can't see that....he's team Captain.......he'll fight for his place if he has to. My instinct would be something more fundamental....salary,contract length,etc.....he's probably had his head turned by an agent?

I think you almost certainly have it at the end there.

IMO, he's well worth a shot in the PL and the challenge for places is good for him and the team.

But time will tell , and soon enough I imagine. But always worth remembering that agents usually make more money when a player moves and signs a new contract.

Hope he stays like. He's a goodun and one of us.

Making big decisions with heart over head is not how clubs at the elite level should operate.

Making key decisions based on how happy it would make the fans even if it doesnt make sense, again is not what should be happening.

We did it once with Defoe and it was a mistake.

We nearly did it again with reappointing Keane (something I wanted tbf) but in hindsight, Neil was a far better appointment at that time.

The club are sticking to the strategy that has been successful and what they think will progress us further. Henderson doesnt fit this and that's why he isnt here. Fully in agreement with the club on this one.

Of course, it was never a question of heart over head but more of a query about where does sentiment come into it, at any point, and whilst in principle we will often say "it never comes in", this is disproved for many with the training ground example. We do care about non-business, non-progressive, non-ideological concepts when it comes to our football club because we're human and have all kinds of conscience and subconscious motivations,

On the goalkeeper situation I think we’re looking at things all wrong we are obviously pulling a wolves but instead of Portugal it’s the continent of Africa so are there any good young African goalkeepers for our African super team <laugh>

what I love about the way we are being ran now, this north/south myth has well and truly been squashed, I agree in years gone by that was the case, however the calibre of players and staff we are assembling and attracting to our ambitious project is unreal, never in my 54 years of supporting the lads have I ever known this. Just how big was Mayenda's and Tommy Watsons goals man!! HAWAY HAWAY HAWAY
