Just seen this was said by roker report about talbi

He's already had an ACL injury which holds him back from using his pace as much, worries about picking up more injuries in a physical league, he goes in and out of form, their fans were frustrated with him. He is very quick and can play either wing, he has a high ceiling. Just a few points... give it a listen.

bit of a worry?

I actually think they are about the same at the minute and Talbi has the higher upside

Both have pace and versatility so it still wouldn't surprise if we went for both but I would honestly prefer Talbi out of the 2

@JimHeron92, @SourPatch2 or @MadMackem77 - what you guys think
Yeah that’s not much in it on reflection

wouldn’t be unfair to say lauriente is slightly further ahead now but that’s simply because he’s played a lot more football than talbi.

talbi definitely comes with the higher ceiling and has the capability to just hit the ground running. I’d probably edge for wanting to buy talbi more than lauriente

That’s good to hear. I don’t know either but I had the same initial view that Lauriente would be better short term and more likely to impact from the off.

I would still like a winger who immediately really improves the team. Ideally a left footer. It may be that needs to be a loan to get the quality we need.

Yes this is probably the case

not to say Talbi can’t hit the ground running, but lauriente has played. Lot more than him

I think we needed a winger who looks to create and is a step up from Roberts so Talbi definitely fits the bill there. Not even just off goal tallies but Lauriente is definitely a better finisher right now but has sort of reached the level he's going to get to.

Probably agree with you scout, they're not too dissimilar now and Talbi can improve a huge amount although he'll have more inconsistencies having played so few games.

I don't think we'd be splashing out £20m on anyone without doing our due dilligence. In and out of form? Well thats nearly every winger isn't it? A match winner on their day but they don't always show that form, the ones that do typically get moved centrally to affect the game more often.

Good to know we think exactly the same

The acl injury bit sounds most worrying tbh

I'm not sure the first point holds much weight, did his ACL 2/3 years ago and then last season was one of the fastest players in the whole UCL just slightly behind Mbappe.

Definitely a bit inconsistent but that's Regis bread and butter to iron out those kinks in young explosive wingers

Sunderland are ready to move for Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone to fight with Anthony Patterson for a game.

The Black Cats have just brought in keeper coach Neil Cutler, as we revealed, and he is a huge fan of experienced Johnstone.

Cutler worked with Johnstone at Aston Villa and Wolves and would welcome a third chance at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland have been looking for expensive keepers in Europe but may look at a relative bargain with Wolves.

The move may happen as a loan because Johnstone still has a couple of years on a contract at Wolves.
Not convinced that’s true. Sounds like a lazy link because of the new goalkeeper coach. Doesn’t even say we want him

Either they are vastly overestimating the benefit of being tall, or we are underestimating it.

Personally I don't think teams can hurt our midfield with the ball on the floor but would still like to steal Stach to **** off Leeds fans.

The consensus that ****ing zian Flemming was better than Mayenda did actually hurt me though, I just ignore what they say as bait most of the time but that one actually almost made me bite.

I do however think we really need 2 new CBs, I love Ballard but he started a quarter of our games last season and Cresswell would be a nice like for like competition at RCB. Then I'd go heavily on a LCB.
One thing I have learned about footy supporters is they all think there players are better than others. It is natural. I think we will see them being excited about players they bring in, like we are. Probably overegg them, a bit like we potentially are.

They both finished well ahead of us last year. Naturally they will be confident enough based on that. Most supporters wont have deep knowledge of the likes of Sidiki or Talbi for example. And to be perfectly honest, there is a level of risk in all signings nowadays.

If I am being entirely impartial I look at us at this moment in time and wonder how much better we are off? Jobe and Watson gone. Habib and Talbi replacements? Reinaldo in is a player extra. Sidiki in for Salis? I am including Salis because he came with a big old rep last year, was going to replace Dan etc. He did look big impact off the pitch, which needs factoring in as a loss. I think we are bettee off, but not massivley just yet. Remains to be seen how well we replace Jobe's contribution.

Now of course it changes again if we sign petrovic and mika. Then we really start seeing marked improvements. Cresswell too would shift the needle a bit.

I have said this before, but I am going to repeat it. What we have that many promoted teams recently havent had is huge potential for improvement in our young players. I have said before how big the leap will be for Rigg this season. I think he will be a far better player in his second season. Much like Jobe did, but more improvement. Mentally he will be so much sharper in games. I would not be surprised at all if by the end of the season he is our best midfielder. Mayenda is another who I think will mature again this season. He probably has some physicality to come, frightening as that sounds. He will be bursting with confidence that is for sure. Mundle has a load of scope as well. If Neil stays he will love the premier league game imo and shine brightly. I even think Patto will get better. If we have Cuttler in I would love him to stay and compete, lets really see where his ceiling is because I dont think anyone could confidently say where it is currently.

All in all I would be confident of finishing ahead of Burnley, although they made a couple of really smart moves in season. Leeds is a wait and see for me. They are clearly fishing in a similar pond to us. But again, our team from last season, if we played the championship again this season, would be much closer to them. So I have confidence in us.

Lastly. Our coaching team looks to be getting a big lift. Two elite level coaches joining the ranks. Potentially one more to come. Every bit as important as the players we have in the squad.

Our future seems very bright. Now lets go and get Grealish - £40m, absolute steal.

yeh as I said earlier I can see a plausible scenario where we sign Petrovic or another big money keeper, sell Patterson, and then sign Johnstone as back up.

but can’t see him being the only keeper joining.

and that’s if there’s anything in it at all

Yeh I completely ignore what other clubs fans say about us. They don’t watch us every week, they don’t analyse our signings in the depth we do.

I’d much rather random fans were saying we were poor and our signings are crap, than then saying we look good and will stay up. Keep expectations low and shock people is more fun.

As long as us fans are happy with the signings, and we are getting positive reports from people who actually know what they’re talking about; I’m happy

Aye be less if he moves again you’d imagine.

Scenario when we sign Petrovic, sell Patto for pure profit, and bring in Johnstone for a similar fee to the sale but split over a 3 year deal or whatever benefits us in several ways.

If it was as first choice I’d sooner keep Patto and see him develop.
Is he wolves 1st choice? if so, why would he come here to sit on the bench?
