It needs to be mixed with some UK based experience IMO. But it's exciting and the recruitment team have a pass. But aye, this has to be the last player we lose for 2 month over Christmas.
Couldn’t agree more. Absolutely vital for me

I’ll get pelters for it and wasn’t going to say it but I’m going to anyway. It’s just my opinion, okay? No drama.

I want our club to retain its talent and I want our team to have as many academy players as we can in it. Dan Neil at times last season was great but at times he was poor and games passed him by.

I have reservations about his ability to play in the “holding” role in the premier league for a likely bottom half side and whilst personally I would love him to sign a new deal, if he doesn’t then I genuinely think we can get better. Indeed we may already have better.

He could blossom into an international quality player but I just don’t see it.

For me it’s far more important we retain Rigg and Mayenda, both of whom I do think will play international football.

Edit - took ages to write this and then noticed a few people above agree so maybe I won’t as many pelters as I thought :D
Watch the play off final again.. keep an eye on Dan throughout.....

yeh I don’t mind overpaying a little but landing our targets. It’s better than missing out on targets and then overpaying for rubbish!!
People saying they want more British players, it may be that we were more keen to get our foreign targets in early, and it's those we've paid a premium for, as it's assumed that they'll take more time to settle in and integrate. The British lads or those that have already played over here can perhaps wait until a bit later in the clubs eyes, it's those deals we may be able to take a bit more time over and therefore be able to strike better deals on.

He's never played international football to be fair, we're making assumptions here.

I've mentioned a few times about having a British core so no arguments from me when it comes to signing uk experienced based players

At the minute I'm only really worried about CM for the AFCON as 2 of them will be away. Talbi hasn't had a senior cap, obviously if hes starting weekly for us and playing well then he will get a call up youd think

If Talbi doesn’t get a call up for AFCON then we’ve got a problem as he won’t be playing well!!!

Talbi looks ok to me. I think some people have got a bit carried away with the talk of the likes of Bakayoko etc. I can see why there'd be some disappointment if that's where expectations are set.

I do feel we're overpaying a little (on all our signings really) but that's what you have to do if you want players in early in the window, there's a premium on that for a club where we are in the pecking order.

We're buying a young, quick, direct winger who has scored goals in the Champions League! We're paying for a player that we think is a game changer, a match winner. Of course it's a gamble, but these are the types that keep you in the league if they pay off.

Sadiki plays for Congo. He'll be back in Sunderland eating Cheesy chips before you know it.

I never in a million years thought it would come off but this should finally put to bed the Bakayoko talk
