Sunderland, Aston Villa and Bournemouth are interested in signing the Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

The Serb, 25, returned to Chelsea this summer after an impressive loan in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, where he was voted the club’s player of the season.

However, he was not included in Enzo Maresca’s squad for the Club World Cup in the United States and is expected to leave Stamford Bridge during this transfer window.

Sunderland have contacted Chelsea about Petrovic but are yet to make a formal bid, although discussions are ongoing. Petrovic has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe. Villa are monitoring his situation, amid uncertainty about the future of their No1 Emiliano Martinez, while Bournemouth are considering Petrovic among a number of options as they seek a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who returned to Chelsea after a season-long loan and has now signed for Arsenal.

Sunderland have already signed the midfielder Habib Diarra from Strasbourg as they prepare to return to the Premier League under Regis Le Bris.

Like I say I don’t think he’s **** I just think he’s a solid champ keeper but that’s about it for me

totally agree mate, had a very good play off campaign but big thing for me was I thought his development stalled last season and I wonder if the club think he has reached his ceiling.

he’d made big strides since becoming number 1 but I wasn’t seeing his ability to come for crosses or using his feet get any better across the season.

hes made a massive contribution to our return from league 1 but as with most positions we should be striving to bring in higher quality

I know this is a dodgy account

but they made a random tweet yesterday or day before saying Charlie cresswell likely be here by the weekend and it looks like it has a good chance of being true

I think that puts us ahead. Villa won’t buy until Martinez goes.

Bournemouth have many options.

If we move fast and make him feel wanted it could happen

One save is tinting everyone’s glasses for his season long performance
That's the thing, recency bias is happening as he finished the season pretty well and was outstanding in tue final. I'm sure i saw some data that said he made 8 errors leading to goals last season. Petrovic made zero

Patterson is fine to start the odd game in the PL but he wasn't ranked as one of the best GKs in the championship last season so not surprised that we are after a starting calibre GK
