Brilliant news about Diarra.

only thing is if I’m right I think he misses the mags game due to needing to be with your countries 14 days before tournament starts hope I’m wrong.

AHHHHHH

Holy ****!!

I keep reading this thread and seeing these links but they still don't feel real. How can Sunderland be so close to signing a €35m midfielder who is one of the biggest prospects in Europe?

It's safe to say that this would surpass every expectation I have for this summer. Such exciting times!

Here's montage of his efforts v England a few weeks back.

Trying not to get over excited as he's young and will be stepping up a level. I think JH will be coming in as an enforcer as he's likely a cheaper option to allow us to invest in other areas.

Couple times we’ve seen ambitious project mentioned by Romano, diarra and the keeper must have had reassurance about what our plans are too agree.

I remember when I started posting on here, in the league 1 days and there was chat about what are KLDs ultimate ambitions here. I remember thinking well obviously try and get us back to the prem and then he’ll make his money ten fold. I always had a bit pessimism about it because I just couldn’t see him sticking around long enough for us to get back to the prem when you think back to what he inherited.

Here we are 4 years later and after these reports the last week of the profile of player we’re trying to sign, I’m again wondering what actually are KLDs ultimate ambitions here? Feels like he’s all in atm and it’s not to be a yo-yo team, it’s to be competitive in the Premier League.

Obviously we haven’t got anything done yet, it might not all work out, we may go down comfortably but bloody hell it’s exciting right now and I’ll take that after going through the past decade following the lads.
I remember when I kept getting shot down when I mentioned the model.
People kept saying all we'd do is keep buying players for 1 to 2 million and selling for a profit.
I stated back then the more we progressed and the more money we made the higher the outlay would be and in time we'd sign young players for 20 million plus, I give you one guess what response I got to those comments 3-4 years ago

Was my sons prom last night so we were still up when news broke. I’ll be honest I was expecting it to be a fake account or something tweeting deal agreed. This feels weird and a bit discombobulating but this signing is really just the model on steroids. I expected to go through a 10-15m signing phase first mind.

yeh it feels like we’ve skipped a whole level of signings and have moved on.

Habib Diarra and Bulka are signings I’d expect us to make NEXT summer once we’d been established in the league
