Maybe not. We needed a new keeper anyway. Might back himself to remain number 1.

It's probably superstition but I always prefer a homegrown keeper... I just feel like in a position where you just have to throw yourself in the way of everything the lads that genuinely care about the club give that extra 5-10%.

I do however think that doesn't matter when Bulka is 20-30% better than Patterson so bring him in.

Sorensen, Mignolet, Poom and many more disprove this fairly comprehensively. Pickford certainly was brave but has famously saved plenty with his face for Everton and England so not convinced he was any different. All keepers are a bit odd, it’s the closest to an individual role in team sport and breeds people that hate being beaten. My son is a keeper. The most chilled sixteen year old except when keeping and then he’s a monster!

Interesting to see how time plays tricks, mind. Lots of retconning of the Craig Gordon transfer happening on SM. Keano knew etc. Many glossing over the fact that Gordon was actually fairly underwhelming in the 07/08 season - at one point getting dropped for Darren Ward. Worked out well in the end but wasn't a massive positive impact on us establishing ourselves during that first season.

We do need two good keepers competing in the PL mind, if Bulka got injured and patto was gone that would leave Moore, which could be very costly. PL teams pay some canny fee's for their backups, it doesn't automatically mean Patto is off tbf

This Bulka lad seems to come out very aggressively and looks very strong. Can't see him pussying out of anything at all. It's not like he's from Nice either!

Well I don't necessarily think that there being better keeps disproves it, that wasn't the point.

But just a superstition of mine that's not really based on anything

I said this before, we will easily clear 150m and the calibre of players will be miles beyond the likes Leiocester, Saints and Ipswich targeted.

Without further departures I reckon more like 120. A net spend of about 75m.

I had us at 4/1 to finish above Leeds and Burnley

I think that would be a pretty poor decision from a squad standpoint, one isn't a left back and the other hasnt managed a full season to date

Chuck Huggins in as well mate. Cirkin, on form, looks a reasonable candidate to be first choice in the prem.

Said earlier didn’t think gk was priority but read a few comments and it probably is understated how important having a top keeper is. Can win up to ten points on their own over the course of the season. I’d of been happy to give patto the chance but if we have the chance to upgrade significantly then we have to take it really.
