Not sure why anybody would not want Henderson, he adds experience, leadership and quality to a very young team

That's how I see it too. We're going to want to move at least 10 players on and we'll need 6 or 7 first team squad players in addition to the back-ups. We could be involved in about 20 deals in and out this window.....busy,busy.....I hope KS is having spinach with his weetabix!

It's possibly because it invokes memories of the Short era,when we were prone to signing experience and know-how but who had no legs or ambition.
Signing JH goes against our very successful M.O. of the last 4 years and I'm not convinced that our,overall,very shrewd recruitment won't produce players who will be able to meet the challenges of the PL head on and develop their own experience as they go.

We have signed experienced players on free's the entire time these lot have been in charge.

He can absolutely add a lot to this squad imo.

For me Henderson isn't necesarilly the problem. The problem is the combo of Henderson and Neil and neither of them being particularly athletic / strong.

If Neil didn't sign a new deal and got sold to Roma or equivalent (I don't want this to happen), then Henderson coming in would be a no brainer.

If we do bring Hendo in j think it’ll be for depth and presence in the dressing room, don’t think he would be a regular starter

When Jobe is officially confirmed I think we probably need 2 central midfielders, ideally one with lots of experience and one with a physical presence and athleticism. Samed has went back and although I do like Alan Browne I think he is likely Championship bound, we can have Harrison Jones and Aleksic as cover or bench warmers, but for me we'll need two in.

The latter two might be better off going out on loan. See how they fair in pre season first but I'm not sure how much they will play next season.

A new first choice DM and a replacement for Jobe, plus Henderson would complement what we have already in Neil, Rigg and Le Fee.
