I also wonder if he would be available at a decent price now for a permanent deal. I've always liked him and I think his upside is enormous. He's lost his way with injuries and confidence and we have the right environment for him

Be a tough deal to do on a permanent basis though as Brighton would be looking to cover themselves incase he hits his potential
Where would he fit in if we got him fit? Start as the striker?

I think he’s a really smart defender and we know he can function well on the ball. I worry a bit about pace

I'm a bit worried about the lack of real top level pace across the backline and central midfield in general.

I think we have some talented lads across the backline and in central midfield, have physicality across the backline (not so much in midfield).

I think the majority of the starting players from last season have a big role to play they just need a bit of help from 4/5 PL quality signings…..easier said than done

I think we would rotate depending on who we are playing, Ferguson can play up top himself or with another CF.

I have high hopes for Mayenda next season so he will still get plenty of minutes but important to have different options available

I don't think we will be able to sign Ferguson permanently and a loan would be most likely

If we could somehow get him on a permanent I would be very happy
I think he needs a new start somewhere Brighton have somehow killed his confidence I could see it at West Ham when he was played he’d take an extra touch that he wasn’t taking before the injury

I'd prefer not to loan him tbh. Think if we've got minutes available for a development player to acclimatise then they have to be going to Mayenda. If we could somehow do a perm, though, I'd be all over it.

Evan Ferguson suggested as an option on RTG.

Didn’t make an impact for West Ham, but is exactly the type I can see us going for on loan. Young, needs a run of games, and is clearly a talent.

yep I’d take him as I think he would offer us something different, yes he hasn’t had a great time at west ham but it’s been a bit of a **** show there at times last season.

lad will have lost his mojo a little but nowt the Regis le Bris rehabilitation centre for bruised, battered and out of form young players couldn’t sort

I remember a while back you mentioned him for a loan option for us the following week Brighton had an injury crisis the lad was thrown in against Arsenal and scored 2 and took off,if we could get him and he reproduces that form would be a yes from me

Wouldn't be keen on Ferguson if I'm being honest, think a permanent is impossible and despite his obvious potential probably a lot of work to get him firing again.

Rather bring in a player who feels they've got something to prove who's come off a good season full of confidence.

Agree totally

Personally I think we should look for a single centre back who is top quality, potentially in the £20-25m range in terms of quality (obviously pay less if we can get a deal, free, loan etc)

The likes of Hjelde, Seelt and Aji are all capable backups and the last thing we need is another squad defender which Tanganga would likely end up being.

Hjelde isn't for me and Seelt and Aji are injured more than they play

Remember how Mayenda looked, these young lads can improve rapidly under the right circumstances, Hjelde looks like a proper centre back to me but needs to improve his distribution and on the ball work if he's going to get upto speed, the fact he was shunted out on the left most of the time didn't help him very much.

This is the reason why I have a little bit of doubt.

I don't see Morton as a traditional 8 as such (though I'm sure like Neil, he could play there). I see him more as that deep lying playmaker.

I think we need a more combative profile in that role to compliment or offer something different to Neil, rather than someone who does the same job.

Maybe I'm underestimating one or both of those players and they're capable of far more than I can see, I just think he's a Neil replacement rather than a Jobe replacement.
I have a theory, that will likely be proven nonsense, that at times we will play a box midfield next season with wing backs. Maybe in away games, or to match up a side. In a midfield like that I could see Neil and Morton both playing at the base and us getting joy in terms of possession. Maybe pace would be a problem. Just a daft theory of mine
