Defo some good players to be found in the Nordic countries I’d just worry that it’s a gamble especially in the PL. Brighton have signed a few and have the luxury of loaning them straight out whereas if we spent upwards of £10m we’d probably be expecting them to go straight into the team. Haralldson at Lille having a good season as is Gustav Isaksen at Lazio, both of those would have been decent signings for a newly promoted team. I think the lad Bissek at Inter also came from a danish team recently.

There’s not many I’d take from the championship if we went up because most of the leagues top performers are experienced championship players who aren’t really going to get any better (Cov midfield good example of that) and those who’ve played in the PL haven’t really proven they’re solid at that level. Cullen, Brownhill, Hamer mentioned above, nearly 28 and he’s a top championship/poor premier league player who’s arguably at his best already. Not really worth it now for me. One argument for our players is that they’re all young and still improving, you have to wonder how many championship players are going to be much of an upgrade on what we have.

Tom Fellows would be a good signing and I’d probably take Van Ewijk from Coventry if we lost Hume but other than that I can’t think of anyone. Sargent is decent but not sure how much of an upgrade, if one at all on what we have. Better players out there abroad for what we’d be expecting to pay.

It's tough because some of the worst teams in the Premiership this season are the likes of Man Utd, Spurs and West Ham, I feel like a lot of these leagues, even Serie A, the bottom half is much more forgiving, there are definitely players in the top half of Serie A and probably even La Liga who are simply not good for the bottom feeders of the Premiership.

I can't see this club going up and dropping the likes of Hume, Cirkin, Ballard etc from the get go mind, still young plyers with a high potential that will no doubt improve by the time the season starts. We wills ign quality i'm sure but they aren't going to throw the likes of those away to the sideline and not give them a chance
If we’re selling ourselves on pathway and opportunity then we absolutely can’t be binning off the entire team wholesale. I know it’s important to try to stay up but we have to be mindful of the season after next.

Knew this is how they'd go about things. Would be a good signing as someone to play the odd game and be more of a dressing room leader but he'd probably have to play 35+ games so I don't think it's a good signing.

Good player but if they continue to sign over 30s they’ll get over run more often than not pace kills in the championship

Good player but they keep signing short term options

They need quite a few players imo to be able to compete in the Championship

No surprise that they play shocking 'football' under Parkinson

Not seen it mentioned anywhere but the transfer window closes at 7pm on 1st September.

Yes that's 7pm, not 11pm. Much better for us wanting sleep :D

Just had a look at the average age of League One squads as I knew Wrexham had a fair few pensioners already.. they have a 33 man squad with an average age of 28.4 - higher than 91 of the other teams in the football league. Only Mansfield are higher.

On a different note whilst I was looking up that info stumbled across Jobe being the most valuable player in the championship now as per Transfermarkt <cheers>

There's a split window as well. Opens pretty soon before the Club World Cup and closes before it starts, then opens again afterwards for the full summer

Yeh, according to the athletic, only Premier League clubs have the initial window, so presumably not championship clubs.

June 1st - June 10th (Premier clubs only)
June 16th - September 1st (everyone)

Seems like the EFL are doing the first window according to the BBC

Opens just in time for my holiday can’t wait to get bollocked by the missus for googling every minuscule link we get round the pool and ignoring her all week

Great signing (Cairney) for any Championship club if he still has the legs, when we played them in the cup a couple of seasons ago he had a turn of pace that was clearly a step above most things we see in the Championship.

We get on the boat for our family holiday and our first ever cruise at 4pm local time a week on Saturday. aka playoff final kick off

I really would like to tell you it won’t be that bad not knowing what’s happening but I missed the away leg cos I booked tickets to comedy show in November, couldn’t concentrate on anything the whole time, hopefully the end result will be the same!
