But you think our players are good enough to step up and play in the premiership when they obviously aren’t.
You'll be surprised how fast a player can progress over the summer. I thought jobe wouldn't fit RLB's tactic he was trying because he was quite slow on the ball his first season. He absolutely leaped in quality.

A big reason for me wanting to go up this season is that the league will 100% be stronger next year. Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton are better than the current top 3, the spending power of Birmingham and Wrexham coming up, if Luton stay up they still have parachute payments so no chance they won't spend, Coventry and Boro are always spenders and have good squads anyway.

Being 'ready to go up' isn't a thing, no team is ready to go up. Any team that goes up simply has to add at least 5 high level players, if not more, to even compete for 17th. Even if we had the best squad in the Championship had ever seen we would still lose 15+ games in the PL.

Also, waiting around to go up so that our players can develop is another poor argument. If we don't go up this summer there's a high chance we have to sell a load of players. Jobe, Rigg, Neil, Ballard, Mayenda, Hume, Cirkin, Mundle have all been linked away recently. That's alongside already losing Watson plus our loan players. Our squad is going to be completely different next season so it doesn't make sense to suggest that we should wait for these players to develop further when a lot of them have already been a part of 2 playoff campaigns and are being linked with PL moves.

Going up has so many benefits that effectively change the club overnight. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to go up.
1000% agree

I'll shut up now about it but yeah the whole wait for these players to develop a further year doesn't really hold, we know these lads have PL aspirations and some are even getting PL offers, we might not even have these players for next season if we stay down, very likely we won't imo. The pro's to being promoted are way too high to snub our noses at imo. Also, I don't think I could actively support us, watch us and care every week if I didn't even want us to go up, how do people see the point in that?

I’ve come round to thinking we really do need to be promoted this season.
Even though it means getting stuffed for most games in the Premier League it’s all about the money.

What made me think that is if you look on here, loads of posters are saying we can’t compete with the teams getting parachute payments meaning the three coming down will always be favourites to go back up (Luton excepted)
If we are relegated as expected we would be getting this parachute payment and we would have this huge advantage over the other 21 clubs not getting it.

Combine that with our excellent Acadamy players and any sales we would be right up there, possibly favourites, to win the Championship and have a real go at staying up.

Yep exactly this. We need to become a part of that club getting PL money as it's becoming a closed shop

Don’t think the Dreyfus Family would gear up for the premier league on and off the pitch to let the opportunity slide if we do get promotion.
I have no doubt investment is already lined up for promotion

we go up, we sign le fee calibre of players and we could stay up

Ipswich spent north 100m and le fee is better than all their signings, only delap impact wise comes close.

We sign le fee, they signed clarke, as much as i love clarke, its just levels

As i've said
Well that choice isn't even realistic. But as I've stated I'd be concerned on the long term futures of the youngsters if they are hit with large and demoralising defeats. Especially following recent performances we are struggling to score, and so dull to watch. We'd be hammered against decent teams, even the Mags which I hate to admit. I'd honestly prefer we stay down for another year and strengthen over the summer, and go all out next year. Like I say its only my opinion, I don't expect pelters for stressing an opinion

But we most likely can't strengthen in the summer if we don't go up. We will lose all our better players and would need to be incredibly lucky to replace at the same level. Best case scenario, we're back in this exact same spot again next year.

The fact is: we are by far the best team in the league without parachute payments. The only teams above us are those who have Premier League money.

Folk need to understand that Premier League money gives teams a massive advantage. We are basically not competing with Leeds, Sheffield U, Burnley. They have their own competition. In terms of non-parachute payment teams we are top of the league and clear by 10 points, even after taking our foot off the gas for a few games. There will never be a better time than now for us to go up. Are people seriously expecting us to do better than 10 points clear at the top of our league next season? The odds are massively against.

This is why going up is critical. Yes, we may lose every week, but the following year in the Champ we would be one of the teams with parachute payments, and then we can actually push on and compete in that "top 3" mini-league of teams. Without Prem money, you have to be INCREDIBLY lucky to even get close. Case in point, we have been very lucky this season with how quickly a lot of our youngsters have developed. Even with that luck, we've fallen well short of the parachute payment teams.

We are the best team in the league without Premier League money by an absolute mile. The only way we get better than where we are right now is with Prem money.

"Stay down and strengthen in the summer" is a myth. We don't go up this year, I'll bet anyone £10 grand right now we will be in a worse position in the league this time next year.

Even on the off chance we do improve, we could win the championship with record points next season and we still won’t be ready for the PL without serious investment. People are living in dreamland thinking we just pissfart around having a laugh in the championship playing some nice football, holding onto all of our players while every other team apparently gets worse and we get better year on year so that they can walk into the PL and finish mid table. It’s a total fantasy.

I'm hearing we're already trying to do a deal for an international player, if it's true it would have implications for players currently at the club. Much more organised than anytime I can remember.

We’ve already got £10m guaranteed coming into the club from Watson so that gives us surety of money to spend. Without that we’d be speculating as to who we might sell and how much for
