The way I see it is that highly rated keepers become available once in a blue moon. To get one for under £20m, to ‘only’ have to pay him an average PL wage and to get him to agree to join a newly promoted club who are favourites for relegation is just unbelievable. He’s highly rated and can afford to waste 12 months of his career in Saudi Arabia, but get paid bucketloads and still get a decent European move in the future, or take a punt on a newly promoted team that may get relegated and still get a good move in 12 months.
