Bundesliga will be a great level for him, with the exception of the top sides the jump from Championship to Bundesliga isn't huge, it's absolutely doable for him and I would back him to get up to speed within 6 months, wouldn't at all be shocked to see him in an England squad before the season is over.

if he hits the ground running for them wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the England World Cup squad
 
Regarding the add ons, interestingly the Athletic confirm what I was saying about both clubs trying to control the narrative:
